In their own words
jaq
jaq is a free jq clone for querying and transforming data, available as both a command-line replacement and a Rust library for compiling and running jq programs. Alongside JSON, it handles YAML, CBOR, TOML, XML, CSV, and TSV, and can convert between those formats while applying a jq filter. Its jaq-core library supports multithreaded use and data types beyond JSON. jaq also accepts arbitrary values as object keys and can process strings containing arbitrary bytes, including invalid UTF-8. The project publishes benchmarks comparing jaq with jq and gojq, and reports faster results on many benchmarks. It states that jaq is memory-safe and prevents input data or filters from initiating I/O, although filters may read files before execution. The project also warns that it does not guard against resource exhaustion, so processing may use unlimited time, memory, or stack space. Binary downloads and installation instructions are provided for Linux, macOS, and Windows, and an online playground is available. jaq is MIT-licensed.
jidoujisho
jidoujisho brings video playback, reading, dictionary lookup and flashcard creation into an Android language-learning app. It handles local media, YouTube videos, Jellyfin streams and direct URLs, with word lookup by tapping or dragging across subtitles and paragraphs. Readers can open offline books in the embedded ッツ Ebook Reader or read manga processed with Mokuro. For study cards, users can edit fields and export the current image and audio to AnkiDroid. Dictionary support covers Yomichan, Migaku and ABBYY Lingvo DSL formats; dictionary data is not bundled, and Yomichan structured-content dictionaries are unsupported. Listed services include ChatGPT, Bing image search, Forvo, JapanesePod101 audio search, and example sentences from Massif, Tatoeba and ImmersionKit. WebSocket support allows use with texthookers. Japanese and English are officially supported; other languages depend on dictionary format and search support. jidoujisho is free and open source under GPL-3.0. It requires Android 7.0 or later and AnkiDroid. External subtitles include SRT, ASS and SSA, but not image-based PGS.
