In their own words
Java-Editor
Java-Editor is a Java development environment intended for teaching and home use on lower-specification computers. Its class modeler reads source files, presents classes with their attributes and methods, and transfers model edits back into source. A UML window supports interactive object creation and method or attribute testing without a main method. The GUI designer works with AWT, Swing and JavaFX components and synchronizes form changes with code. Students can make control-flow diagrams in the structogram editor, generate programs or methods, and use puzzle mode. Debugging includes breakpoints, stepwise execution, watch expressions, local variables, parameters and call-stack information. Installing Git or Subversion adds corresponding menus, while JUnit adds its own menu. LLM assistance supports OpenAI and Gemini cloud models and local models through Ollama. The program requires a Java Development Kit; JavaFX must be installed separately for JDK 11 and later. It is free for personal, commercial and government use. Classroom versions support portable USB installations, INI configuration and network-folder deployment.
MyEclipse
MyEclipse is an IDE for Java enterprise and full-stack development, combining coding, debugging, deployment, and database management. It supports Java 25, Spring Boot 4, Java EE, and Jakarta EE, as well as web technologies including Angular, React, Vue, TypeScript, JavaScript, and Node.js. Development integrations include Maven, Git, Docker, OpenShift, and application servers such as WebSphere, Tomcat, WebLogic, and JBoss. Database tools include connectors, an embedded Derby database, persistence support, schema reverse engineering, and query tools. MyEclipse 2026 includes AI code generation, suggestions, and Copilot4Eclipse chat; the Spring + AI license adds AI-assisted documentation, code reviews, test cases, and smart fixes. Plans include Standard at $37 per user per year and Professional at $74 per user per year, with higher tiers adding capabilities such as WebSphere support or AI assistance. Secure editions are also listed for several plans. A 30-day trial includes all features. MyEclipse runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Genuitec, established in 2001 and based in Flower Mound, Texas, makes the product.
