Overview

Jitsu is an event-data pipeline for teams bringing activity from websites, apps, and business systems into a data warehouse. It suits teams that need flexible collection and routing without a narrow source list; the choice is between managed hosting and running the software themselves.

Its broad integration catalog, event transformations, and buffering make it a capable fit for multi-source pipelines. The main trade-offs are usage-based billing and the Kubernetes requirement for feature-complete self-hosting.

Key features

Collection and delivery

Jitsu accepts events through web snippets, HTTP and Pixel APIs, React Native, native iOS and Android, and server-to-server connections. It says warehouse delivery can take under a second, with optional batching for flows that do not need immediate delivery. This range suits teams consolidating product and business events, while the right collection method will depend on each source.

When a warehouse is under maintenance, Jitsu buffers data in Kafka and delivers it when the warehouse is back online. It also deduplicates repeated data and can create warehouse tables and columns from incoming events. Those capabilities reduce interruptions and schema upkeep, though they do not remove the need to monitor the pipeline and destination.

Routing and transformation

JavaScript Functions can filter, reshape, or enrich events before they reach a destination. The integrations catalog includes 609+ sources and 32+ destinations across warehouses, object storage, analytics, CRMs, and ad platforms. That breadth is useful when a pipeline spans several systems; teams should still check that their particular endpoints are supported.

Security and compliance

Jitsu states that data is encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit via TLS. It also states that it is SOC 2 compliant, participates in the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, and offers a DPA and SCC. These are relevant considerations for teams assessing data handling and contractual needs.

Pricing

Jitsu has a free tier and paid plans starting at $99/mo. Captured events are free; billing counts active events successfully sent to at least one destination. If a function splits one event into several, each resulting event counts, so transformations can affect usage.

Open source: Free, forever, under the MIT License. It can be self-hosted on any cloud provider, has no usage limits, and includes community support. This is the fit for teams willing to operate the software rather than pay for managed service; feature-complete self-hosting requires Kubernetes.
Free: Free, with 200k active events/mo, unlimited captured events, unlimited connectors and destinations, up to 1 daily active sync, and Jitsu Cloud, Private Cloud, or On Prem deployment. It is a useful way to start, but the event allowance and daily sync cadence constrain larger or more time-sensitive workloads.
Business: 99.00 USD per month, billed per month, for 2M active events/mo, unlimited connectors, up to 1-hour sync, and up to 5 monthly active syncs. Additional usage costs $40 per additional 1M events; each monthly active sync beyond five costs $20. This suits teams needing a managed service and more frequent syncing, provided they can forecast event and sync volume.
Enterprise: Custom pricing, with a custom active-event allowance, unlimited connectors, syncs as often as every minute, and unlimited monthly active syncs. It fits workloads that need higher sync frequency or a tailored allowance.

A free trial is available. Open-source community support is included, and Jitsu invites prospective customers to contact its team with questions.

Platforms

Jitsu is listed for Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows, web, API, and self-hosted use. Hosted cloud and on-premise deployment are both options, but feature-complete self-hosting requires Kubernetes.

Who it's for

Jitsu is strongest for teams consolidating events from multiple channels and sending them to warehouse or business-system destinations, especially when they need transformation, deduplication, or buffering. The free plan gives smaller workloads room to begin, while Business raises the event allowance and sync frequency. Teams without Kubernetes expertise should favor hosted deployment; organizations needing finer-grained syncs or custom capacity can consider Enterprise.

Pros and cons

Broad collection and routing: Web, mobile, and server-side collection plus 609+ sources and 32+ destinations can cover a varied event pipeline.
Resilience and schema handling: Kafka buffering, deduplication, and automatic table and column creation help reduce delivery interruptions and manual warehouse setup.
Flexible deployment: Hosted options and MIT-licensed self-hosting give teams a choice, but full-featured self-hosting calls for Kubernetes operations.
Usage can expand after transformations: Billing counts successfully delivered active events, including each event produced by a split, so event shaping can increase the bill.
Sync limits matter: Free includes one daily active sync; Business allows five monthly active syncs before extra charges, so frequent sync schedules may require Enterprise.

Alternatives

Consider SnowcatCloud for its free, Apache 2.0 open-source plan, noting that its RDB loaders require pa.

Stape is an alternative with a pay-as-you-go plan at 8.00 USD per month, billed $100 yearly, for Meta CAPI Gateway, one Pixel, and up to 10 million events per month; additional Pixels cost $8 each.

RudderStack Customer Data Platform may suit teams whose free tier's 250K events/month, 16 SDK sources, and 200+ cloud destinations fit their needs.

CustomerLabs CDP is a paid option with a Growth plan at 129.00 USD per month, billed $129/mo + GST, with 500K monthly usage units, unlimited sources, and unlimited destinations.

Hightouch offers a free plan with two active syncs per month, hourly sync frequency, and 100,000,000 operations per month.

SetRoasFlow has a Growth plan at 99.00 USD per month for 2M events/mo, 10 websites, warehouse export, and priority email support.

Tracardi offers a free open-source version with limited events per second, single-tenant operation, limited automation, and no event validation.

walkerOS is a free, MIT-licensed, self-hosted option with no event limits, though infrastructure costs remain your responsibility.

Verdict

Jitsu is a strong choice for teams that need broad event collection, configurable transformations, and warehouse resilience in one pipeline. Its free tier and open-source edition give teams ways to start without a paid commitment, while Business adds capacity and more frequent syncs. Look elsewhere if operating Kubernetes is out of reach for self-hosting or if active-event billing and sync allowances do not fit your workload.
