In their own words
Jomo
Jomo is a screen time app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac that helps people limit distracting apps and support focused habits. You can schedule blocks, start them after reaching a usage limit, or keep them in place until you take an action. Strict Mode can lock rules against deletion or bypassing. Unlock choices include waiting, giving a reason, entering a password, scanning a QR code, or completing an AI proof. On Mac, blocks can target apps, keywords, and websites, with wildcard rules for specific pages. Journaling gives users a way to review sessions and identify usage patterns. Jomo lists Apple Health Integration, and rules can sync with Focus Filters across iPhone and Mac. The maker says usage stays on the user’s phone and is not sold to advertisers. Jomo offers a free plan with one session, one action or limit, and one Screen Time Budget, plus a three-day trial. Paid options include $14.99 a year for Student (Annual), $29.99 a year for Annual, and $99.99, paid once for Single Purchase.
ScreenZen
ScreenZen blocks selected apps and websites to help people reduce screen time. Users can set daily limits, schedule focus periods, use apps mindfully and track progress; schedules and limits can also control which selected targets are blocked. Lock mode is designed to resist common workarounds and can prevent uninstalling. The core app is free and runs on Android, iOS, macOS and Windows without requiring an account. The maker says its settings and blocking data stay on the device and that the core app collects no personally identifiable information. Optional social accountability and Halo features may store account details and selected usage or Halo data in Google Firebase and cloud storage. Halo uses Bluetooth to block selected apps and websites when a device enters a chosen physical boundary. It supports unlimited iOS 16.4+ or Android 12.0+ phones and tablets, adjustable radius up to 50 ft, and custom schedules. Halo costs $49, paid once; an account is required to manage it and add users. ScreenZen’s terms require users to be at least 13 and say it is not medical or mental-health advice.
