In their own words

Karmada

Karmada manages cloud-native applications across multiple Kubernetes clusters and clouds without requiring changes to the applications. It supports public and private cloud, on-premises, edge, and self-built environments that meet Kubernetes specifications. Cluster connections can use Push mode through a Kubernetes API server or Pull mode through an in-cluster agent. Scheduling policies cover cluster affinity, taints and tolerations, topology spread, and replicated or divided placement. OverridePolicy allows per-cluster changes to images, arguments, commands, and plain-text configuration. Karmada can move replicas after a cluster failure, including migration that avoids service replicas dropping to zero. Through karmada-apiserver, teams can create, update, delete, and query resources across member clusters. Its components export Prometheus metrics; integrations described include Submariner networking and ErieCanal service governance. Installation options include CLI tools, Helm, an operator, binaries, or source. The CLI initialization requires escalated privileges to store shared configuration under /etc/karmada by default. Karmada is open source and free, with customer-managed control plane; it manages clusters but does not provision them.

Omni

Omni is a fleet management service for provisioning, configuring, upgrading, and backing up Talos clusters across bare metal, edge, and cloud. Platform teams can use it as SaaS or self-host it, including in disconnected and air-gapped environments. It supports infrastructure such as KubeVirt, libvirt, vSphere, and Proxmox, as well as providers built by the team. Declarative templates keep clusters aligned with specified configurations. Fleet-wide Talos and Kubernetes upgrades include health checks, atomic updates per node, and automatic rollback on failure. Omni connects to nodes through WireGuard; KubeSpan can extend encryption across clusters and sites. Workload Proxy routes HTTP service traffic to a cluster through that tunnel using an identity-provider-gated URL. SAML or OIDC authentication, per-cluster roles, and change auditing are available through the UI or API. Hobby costs $10 per month for up to 10 nodes and 2 users; Startup costs $25 per node per month for up to 50 nodes and unlimited clusters. A 14-day trial requires no credit card.
