In their own words
KeyBlaze
KeyBlaze is a typing tutor for touch typing, speed typing and 10-key numeric keypad practice. Its lessons cover home and neighboring keys, capitalization, punctuation and numbers, with drills, prose, poetry and exercises focused on difficult keys. Audio dictation provides transcription practice, while typing games offer another kind of exercise. KeyBlaze measures net and gross words per minute, supports tests at different durations and lets learners set speed goals. Users can import their own lessons, drills and speed tests or focus practice on troublesome words and characters. Keyboard highlighting indicates finger placement, and the software can print course completion certificates. KeyBlaze runs on macOS and Windows and is described by its maker as suitable for all skill levels. For classroom review, results can be saved to a network folder; that folder must be configured separately on each computer. The free version costs nothing, while additional lessons, professional exercises and custom features require an upgrade. The Plus Home license is restricted to non-business use.
Typesy
Typesy is a keyboarding and workplace training program for individuals, homeschool families, schools, and business teams. Alongside typing, it covers computer skills and workplace productivity through video instruction, structured exercises, games, progress tracking, and typing goals. Typesy says it adjusts lessons to a learner’s skill level and goals as progress changes. Individual subscriptions include a typing certificate and an employer verification service. Schools can provision and organize student accounts through Google Classroom, Clever, Classlink, or Canvas, or import students from CSV. The platform is available on Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows. Pricing starts at $6/mo (annual), with a 7-day trial and no free plan. The downloads are intended for existing Typesy users, and the Android and iPad apps require a physical keyboard. Homeschool plans specify parent-teacher and student account counts, while Typesy for Teams requires at least 5 users. The maker’s privacy policy says client information is not used for targeted ads or advertising profiles.
