In their own words
Kira
Kira is Litera’s contract intelligence software for high-volume, high-stakes review and due diligence. It combines predictive and generative AI to extract contract information, answer natural-language questions with links to source documents, and produce summaries or export-ready reports. More than 1,400 pre-built smart fields are available, and teams can train additional fields. Collaborative review grids support M&A, real estate, banking, and finance work. Kira detects and categorizes 40 languages, although most built-in fields target English; some also find German, Brazilian Portuguese, and Canadian French, while non-Latin and Asian scripts are not officially supported for built-in fields. The software includes controls governing where AI is applied and can run in the cloud or on premises. Listed integrations include Microsoft 365, Litera Transact, HighQ, and Intralinks. Litera says AI+ uses Microsoft Azure OpenAI services with confidential data not retained or used to train other models. Pricing is on request; web and self-hosted options are listed.
ThoughtRiver
ThoughtRiver is an AI contract review tool for agreements reviewed before or after signing. Its Lexible LLM flags issues, obligations, and risks, while Playbooks check contracts against preset criteria and show which provisions are met or unmet. Teams can generate review output or redlines, and generative editing is designed to follow drafting style and negotiation guidelines. Contracts can be submitted by email, drag and drop, or the Word add-in; the platform works inside Outlook, Word, and Teams. Listed integrations include Microsoft 365, Power BI, HighQ, and iManage, and ThoughtRiver provides a public API following the OpenAPI Specification. It focuses on in-house teams and law firms processing over 200 agreements per year, while also supporting non-legal teams. ThoughtRiver lists no free plan and a 28-day trial. Monthly plans are 6.00 USD, 14.00 USD, and $49 a month; Professional starts at £15,000 a year and Enterprise at £30,000 a year.
