Overview

Klaros brings projects, requirements, cases, suites, environments, runs and results into a connected workflow. Revisioning for requirements, cases and suites, alongside associations with system and environment versions, gives teams useful context for interpreting results over time. That traceability is most valuable when teams keep those records current; otherwise, the links can become an administrative shell rather than dependable test history.

Manual testers work through steps in a web client that records comments, attachments and outcomes. Automated results can enter through a Jenkins/Hudson plug-in, so teams can retain manual and automated execution records together. The trade-off is that the automation connection described is specific to Jenkins/Hudson, while REST interfaces also support importing results, test cases and requirements.

Key features

Planning, execution and reporting

Klaros covers test planning, case management, run tracking and requirements linking. Reports and statistics draw on stored test data and can be exported as PDF, HTML, CSV or TXT. This gives QA teams multiple ways to share execution information, though the quality of those reports depends on the accuracy of the underlying records.

Integrations and access

Issue-tracker integrations include Jira, Redmine, GitLab, Bugzilla, GitHub, Mantis and Trac. REST interfaces provide read access and import paths for test data, while authentication can use Klaros accounts, LDAP or Active Directory; CAS single sign-on is also supported. This breadth should suit teams connecting QA records to established development systems without replacing their issue tracker.

Mobile Edition

The maker describes a Mobile Edition for executing manual test cases on a mobile device and documenting them with audio, video and GPS. That is a distinct option for field-oriented execution; it does not change the central product’s broader web-based deployment model.

Pricing

Community Edition costs 0.00 EUR per free and allows unlimited concurrent users, but includes fewer features than Enterprise Edition. It is a sensible starting point for teams prioritizing broad access over the full feature set. Enterprise Edition uses custom pricing and a license bound to a set number of users, so organizations should weigh the required user count alongside the features they need.

The pricing model is freemium, with a 30-day trial. The free edition removes a concurrency cap, but that does not mean feature parity with Enterprise. Teams should also budget for a production database rather than assume the default database is suitable.

Platforms

Klaros is web-based and can be installed on 64-bit Windows or Linux servers; Docker deployment is documented. Supported databases include Apache Derby, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, MariaDB and PostgreSQL. The manual warns that the default Apache Derby database is not intended for production use and recommends a separate production database such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server or Oracle. That deployment requirement matters for teams planning an operational rollout. The product’s listed platforms also include Android, API, Linux, self-hosted, web and Windows.

Who it's for

Klaros is a good fit for QA teams that need requirements-to-test traceability, guided manual execution, shared reporting and imports from Jenkins/Hudson. Its issue-tracker connections and LDAP, Active Directory and CAS options also make it relevant to organizations integrating test records with existing workflows and identity systems. It is less compelling for teams seeking a production-ready default database or a free edition with Enterprise-level features.

Pros and cons

Pros: Unlimited concurrent users in Community Edition make it possible to involve a broad team without a seat cap.
Pros: Revisioned test assets, execution context and reporting exports help preserve and share test history.
Pros: Issue-tracker integrations, REST interfaces and Jenkins/Hudson result transfer support connections to existing QA and development workflows.
Cons: Community Edition has fewer features than Enterprise, while Enterprise licensing is tied to a set number of users.
Cons: The default Derby database is not intended for production, adding a database decision to deployment planning.

Alternatives

Consider aqua if a read-only Guest plan with unlimited seats is useful alongside its freemium offering. Kualitee is worth comparing for its free Growth cloud plan, capped at one project, 500 test cases, 200 defects, three users and 20 AI credits per month per domain. Choose Tricentis Testim if a free allowance of up to 1,000 runs per month or customized mobile and web testing plans better fit the need.

TestChimp, QA Sphere, Squash TM, Testiny and Qase are other options to compare.

Verdict

Choose Klaros-Testmanagement when your QA team needs connected test planning, traceable manual execution, automated-result imports and broad concurrent access without a Community Edition seat cap. Its central advantage is bringing those records into one workflow; look elsewhere if you need Enterprise features on the free plan or want to avoid selecting and operating a separate production database.
