Overview

Search begins with an image upload and covers People, Places, Duplicates, Similar and Related results. Text keywords and a website domain can narrow a search, and results can be saved to profile collections. Supported formats include JPG, PNG, WEBP, TIFF, HEIC and AVIF.

Email alerts can track new image matches, while shared search links stay active for up to six hours after the last interaction. That makes them useful for short-term collaboration, not as a durable record. Lenso says uploads are not saved or shared, are not used to train AI, and remain visible only to the uploader unless a results link is shared.

Key features

Image and face search

Searching across five result categories makes Lenso useful for more than finding exact copies: it can also surface related or visually similar images. Face Search can find online appearances of a face, but is available only in selected regions. The Face Search API has the same geographic restriction, and users must live in an eligible region and sign an agreement. That limitation rules it out for workflows that require face search everywhere.

Sources, filters and alerts

Results have source URLs, but the free account cannot unlock results to see them. Starter permits up to 50 source unlocks, enough for occasional investigation but restrictive for ongoing research. Professional adds filters for language, date range, image size, domain and keywords in page titles, which can make a large result set more manageable. It also includes Research Mode, which can show up to 10,000 People and Duplicate results, plus DMCA Assist Mode to prepare a takedown request message from selected image links and sources.

Starter includes up to 10 email alerts and Professional up to 50. Both include unlimited searches, so the practical constraint on those plans is not search frequency but the number of results users can unlock or alerts they can receive.

API and privacy controls

The Developer plan offers Face Search and Reverse Image Search APIs, up to 5,000 API calls, usage statistics and priority technical support. Its API searches People, Places, Duplicates, Similar and Related categories, with sorting and domain URL filtering. Users concerned about face-index coverage can submit an opt-out request; Lenso says requests are reviewed each business day and removal usually takes less than 24 hours. Users can also withdraw consent or request account-data removal. The privacy policy identifies LENSO AI SPÓŁKA AKCYJNA as controller and says it follows GDPR and UK GDPR principles and applies technical and organizational safeguards.

Pricing

Lenso.ai is freemium, with paid plans from $19.99/mo. There is no free trial. The free account allows daily searches but cannot unlock results or view sources, making it suitable for initial discovery rather than verification.

Starter: 50 unlocks, 10 alerts and unlimited searches. Intended for individual casual users, it is the entry point for people who need sources or a modest number of match notifications.
Professional: 500 unlocks, 50 alerts, unlimited searches, Research Mode, advanced filters and DMCA Assist Mode. It suits frequent searchers who need larger result allowances and controls, or want help preparing takedown requests.
Developer: 5,000 API calls, 5,000 unlocks, 500 alerts, Research Mode, advanced filters and priority technical support. It is aimed at API use, but its price is custom pricing.

Starter and Professional prices are custom pricing in the plan details; the paid entry point is $19.99/mo. The listed terms do not give billing renewal conditions, so compare the plan allowance with your expected unlock and alert volume before committing.

Platforms

Lenso.ai is available on the web and through browsers on Android, iOS, Mac, Windows and Linux. Its listed platforms also include an extension and API. The Chrome extension starts a reverse-image search from a webpage when a user actively selects that feature.

Who it's for

Lenso is a sensible fit for photographers, researchers and other users who need to track where images appear, particularly if they will revisit searches or need source links. Professional is the clearest fit for frequent research; Developer is for teams integrating searches into software. Users who only need an occasional lookup can try the free tier, but should expect to pay if they need to inspect sources. It is a weaker choice for users who need unrestricted regional face search or need a durable shared search link.

Pros and cons

Useful range of search categories: People, Places, Duplicates, Similar and Related searches support both exact-copy tracing and broader visual discovery.
Practical controls for repeat research: Professional combines substantial unlocks and alerts with filters, Research Mode and takedown-message preparation.
API supports multiple categories: Developer includes search APIs, usage statistics and priority technical support, with sorting and domain filtering.
Free searches do not expose sources: users must move to a paid plan to verify where a result appears.
Face search is region-limited: this can disrupt workflows that depend on consistent access across locations.
Shared links are temporary: six hours after the last interaction is a short window for collaboration.

Alternatives

Berify is worth comparing for users who want free searches and a free trial, or a defined monthly image allowance: its 1,000 Images plan is 5.95 USD per month billed monthly. GSE is the alternative to consider for a free, open-source option across Android, Linux, macOS and Windows. ImageRights Discovery offers a free ImageRights Pilot covering the first 100 images and supports API, macOS, web and Windows.

Imagga Visual Search is a candidate for API users who also need visual search, background removal, barcode recognition and OCR; its Indie plan is 79.00 USD per month billed monthly for 70,000 API requests. LocalLens is a free, open-source option for users who want software that can run on Linux, macOS, Windows or self-hosted. SearchReverseImage suits users who want free, unlimited photo searches without signup or watermarks, with JPG/JPEG, PNG, WEBP or GIF uploads up to 4 MB.

SerpApi offers an API alternative with a free tier of 250 searches per month and a 25.00 USD per month Starter plan. trace.moe is another free API and extension option.

Verdict

Choose Lenso.ai if you need to trace images across several categories and expect to use source unlocking, alerts, advanced research controls or an API. Its main strength is the progression from casual searching to structured monitoring and API use. Look elsewhere if free searches must include inspectable sources, if face search must work in every region, or if shared searches need to remain active beyond a short collaboration window.
