Overview

LiveSchool gives K–12 schools a way to record behavior and connect recognition to points, rewards, and family access. It is best suited to schools building a shared positive-culture program, rather than buyers seeking only classroom monitoring. Its strongest appeal is the combination of behavior tools and free family accounts; the staff minimum and annual commitment rule out a small, short-term purchase.

Behavior and incident tracking, positive reinforcement, PBIS and SEL support, House Points, and a rewards store cover both recognition and conduct records. Family engagement is part of the platform, and parents, guardians, and students can use it without a separate fee. That makes the model more practical for school-wide participation, although the school still pays for at least 10 staff users.

Schools can sync rosters and enable single sign-on with Clever and ClassLink; OneRoster files are supported through Clever. LiveSchool states that it complies with FERPA and COPPA and receives an annual third-party audit of its security, privacy, and operational controls. It encrypts behavioral data in transit with TLS 1.2+ and at rest with AES-256, and uses role-based access. Student records are deleted by default within 60 days after service ends, subject to legal or data-sharing requirements.

Key features

Behavior, points, and rewards

LiveSchool brings behavior tracking and incident tracking together with positive reinforcement. House Points and a rewards store give schools ways to structure recognition, while PBIS and SEL support make the product relevant to programs built around those approaches. Premium adds student shopping; Starter limits schools to 10 behaviors and one behavior alert, so it is a tighter fit for a focused rollout than a program needing broad categories and multiple alerts.

Family access, rosters, and support

Family engagement is paired with free parent, guardian, and student access, while schools pay for staff accounts. Educators, students, and families can sign in through a browser at my.liveschoolapp.com or use LiveSchool Next on iPhone, iPad, or Android. Clever and ClassLink roster synchronization and single sign-on can reduce account and roster administration for schools using those systems. All plans include live chat, phone, and email support from former educators on school days, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST; that is useful school-hour coverage, not round-the-clock support.

Pricing

LiveSchool is paid, with a free school-year pilot. Every subscription requires at least 10 staff and a 12-month term, so the entry prices are not a way for a single teacher to buy a brief trial. The listed annual totals use 40 staff as the basis:

Plan	Price	What it includes
Pilot	0.00 USD per free	Billed school-year pilot; SSO and rostering, all features, one grade level, up to one school year
Starter	1960.00 USD per year	Billed $49/staff/year for 40 staff; SSO and rostering, up to 10 behaviors, one behavior alert, basic reports, standard support
Premium	3960.00 USD per year	Billed $99/staff/year for 40 staff; SSO and rostering, unlimited behaviors and alerts, student shopping, all reports, hall passes, premium support
District	Custom pricing	All Premium features, SOC 2 compliance, data integration, district dashboard, enterprise support

Pilot is the lowest-risk option for a school assessing the full feature set, but it is restricted to one grade level and lasts no more than one school year. Starter costs less than Premium and covers core tracking, but behavior and alert caps, basic reporting, and the absence of student shopping and hall passes make it less suitable for a mature, school-wide program. Premium is the clearest fit when a school needs room for unlimited behaviors and alerts, full reports, shopping, and hall passes. District adds integration, a district dashboard, SOC 2 compliance, and enterprise support for buyers who need those district-level provisions; its price is custom.

Platforms

LiveSchool supports web, iOS, and Android. Browser access is available at my.liveschoolapp.com, with the LiveSchool Next app for iPhone, iPad, and Android. The listed platform set is narrower than some classroom-monitoring alternatives that also support desktop operating systems or extensions.

Who it's for

LiveSchool is a strong match for K–12 schools and districts that want behavior records, positive reinforcement, rewards, family participation, and roster or single-sign-on connections in one system. It is less compelling for an individual educator or a small team that cannot meet the 10-staff minimum, or for schools that need a commitment shorter than 12 months. Starter suits a more limited behavior program; schools expecting to use hall passes, student shopping, or uncapped behaviors and alerts should weigh Premium instead.

Pros and cons

Free family access: Parents, guardians, and students can participate without adding separate paid seats.
Broad school-culture toolkit: Behavior and incident tracking sit alongside positive reinforcement, PBIS and SEL support, House Points, and rewards.
Roster and sign-in support: Clever and ClassLink integrations cover synchronization and single sign-on, with OneRoster files through Clever.
Meaningful entry constraints: At least 10 staff and a 12-month term make it a poor fit for an individual teacher or a short pilot purchase.
Starter has firm feature ceilings: Ten behaviors, one alert, and basic reports may not serve schools seeking a broader or more mature program.
Premium is needed for key tools: Student shopping, hall passes, all reports, and unlimited behaviors and alerts are not in Starter.

Alternatives

Choose classroom.cloud if you want a paid classroom-focused option with a free trial across Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows. Consider KyberClassroom if device-based annual pricing is a better fit: KyberGate Basic is shown at 5.00 USD per year for the displayed 1,000–4,999-device range, billed at $5/device/year.

Senso.cloud may suit buyers looking for a paid option with a free trial and a Microsoft Teams chat-monitoring plan; its Senso for Microsoft Teams plan is shown at 1.00 GBP per year, billed at £1.00 user / year*. Lightspeed Classroom is another paid option, with personalized quote pricing and inclusion in Lightspeed’s integrated ecosystem.

Classwize is a paid alternative. NetSupport School may be worth considering for buyers seeking device-based licensing, buy-once options, and a free trial. AB Tutor is another paid option with a free trial and per-device annual subscriptions. GoGuardian Teacher may fit buyers seeking custom pricing based on enrollment, product bundles, contract length, and professional services.

Verdict

Choose LiveSchool if your K–12 school wants behavior tracking and recognition tied to family participation, rewards, and roster integrations, and can commit to at least 10 staff for a year. The combination of free family access and a clear progression from a one-grade pilot to school and district plans is its main advantage. Look elsewhere if you need a single-teacher purchase, a shorter commitment, or a classroom-monitoring product rather than a school-culture platform.
