In their own words

Lomorage

Lomorage backs up and manages phone photos and videos on a computer, NAS, or Raspberry Pi controlled by the user. It keeps original-size files and EXIF metadata, and supports Live Photos. Automatic backups can be limited to Wi-Fi, charging, nighttime, or selected folders. Image search covers scenes, people, places, and words within images, with AI processing available locally on the phone. After backup, Free Up Space can remove large local files, and duplicate or similar photos can be reviewed. Multiple isolated family accounts can be configured, with sharing for moments and groups. The service supports external hard drives and flash disks, and says it runs on a private network without collecting user privacy data. Remote access can be set up through a third-party reverse-proxy tunnel or router port mapping. The computer or NAS must be powered on and reachable for backups; iOS background backup is limited by Apple’s background-execution restrictions. Lomorage is free, though external storage is required.

PhotoPrism

PhotoPrism is a photo and video manager for browsing, organizing, and sharing collections, available in the cloud or self-hosted. It classifies images by content and location and recognizes faces; combined search filters and six high-resolution world maps help users explore them. The app indexes, displays, and converts common image, video, and RAW formats, including JPEG, PNG, HEIF, HEIC, MP4, MOV, WebP, and WebM. It also combines Exif, XMP, and other metadata, including Google Photos JSON. Albums can be shared through secret links that may expire, without recipients needing an account or app. PhotoSync can back up phones, and WebDAV clients such as Finder and Windows Explorer can connect. The Community Edition runs on Mac, Linux, and Windows via Docker, with other listed options including Raspberry Pi and NAS devices. Platforms include Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, Windows, web, and self-hosting. Community is free; Essentials is €2/mo billed annually. PhotoPrism is based in Berlin, Germany.
