In their own words
LoongBones
LoongBones is a 2D skeletal animation solution with an online editor and a runtime player. The browser-based editor uses HTML5 and canvas, so it requires no installation, and it can create, modify, and export animation data, images, frame sequences, and other digital assets. Its tools include mesh deformation, bone binding, inverse kinematics, collision, and mesh curve deformation. Imports include PSD files, images, texture atlases, LoongBones projects and data, and supported Spine files. Exports include animation formats, images, sprite sheets, and GIFs, with plugins for additional formats. The runtime plays LoongBones animation data and supports Egret, Cocos, PixiJS, Unity, and Unreal; it is described as open source, free to download, and MIT-licensed. The product also says it supports AI-generated animation and has integrated DeepSeek. A seven-day free experience includes 100M storage and up to 10 projects. Membership costs 19.90 CNY a month or 199.90 CNY a year. The listed platforms include Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, self-hosted, web, and Windows.
TexturePacker
TexturePacker creates sprite sheets from images and optimizes graphics for games. It arranges sprites with Grid, Basic, MaxRects, or Polygon packing, trims transparent areas, and can store identical sprites only once. Multipack places sprites on as few sheets as possible, while filters control which sprites go onto each sheet. Image optimization includes PngQuant and Zopfli PNG compression, plus hardware texture codecs such as ETC, PVRTC, DXT, ASTC, and Basis Universal. Tools for artists include a 9-patch editor, pivot point editor, animation preview, and sprite sheet splitter. TexturePacker supports more than 48 game engines, including Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot, Phaser, and Cocos2d-x; users can also define a data format for an in-house engine. It runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows, and offers a command-line interface and a Docker/CI license for automated builds. Essential is free for non-commercial use; it excludes advanced features such as polygon packing, multipack, many engine formats, and batch processing. Other listed desktop licenses start at $49.99 once, and new installations can try all features for seven days.
