LSDJ
LSDJ, or Little Sound Dj, is a Game Boy music sequencer built around the console's 4-channel, 4-bit sound. Listed features include dual sample playback, a waveform synthesizer, and speech, with sync options for analog, Game Boy, MIDI, and VST. The site offers a ROM image and manual, along with a save-file manager, a sample patcher for adding user samples, and player versions. For computer use, the maker recommends BGB, a Windows emulator described as working on Mac and Linux with Wine; SameBoy is another emulator option. The ROM can also be used on an original Game Boy with a reprogrammable flash cartridge. RG300, BittBoy, and Odroid-GO are named as hardware emulator examples. LSDJ is free for personal and educational use; commercial users should first seek the copyright holder's permission. The license prohibits copying, publishing, distributing, sublicensing, or selling copies, and provides the software as-is without warranty. The maker invites bug reports by email and says reported bugs will be fixed.
SunVox
SunVox is a modular synthesizer and pattern-based sequencer, also called a tracker, for electronic music composition. Its built-in synthesizer and effect modules can be connected into complex arrangements. Pattern effects include random notes and controller values, as well as probability effects for varying rhythms and melodies. SunVox supports 16-, 24-, and 32-bit WAV, AIFF, OGG, MP3, FLAC, and XI samples, and can export multitrack WAV. It supports MIDI input, output, import, and export, plus XM and MOD imports. The software runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android, and Windows CE; a JavaScript player is available for modern browsers with WebAssembly support. The maker says projects are stored in a single file and mobile versions are full-fledged, with nearly identical sound to desktop versions. A free cross-platform library lets developers use the SunVox engine in their own applications. SunVox is free on most platforms, with Android and iOS exceptions. The maker lists email and a user forum for support.
