In their own words
Lumastery
Lumastery is a homeschool web app with lessons and adaptive practice in math and reading, plus on-screen science lessons. It is designed for families managing children at different ages and learning levels. Practice difficulty responds to a child's recent answers and can return to foundational skills. A skill is marked mastered at 85% across the last 10 attempts; spaced review revisits skills over time, except arithmetic-chain skills. The Family plan allows a choice of traditional or conceptual math instruction for each child. Listed curriculum includes 238 math lessons, 157 structured reading lessons, and 117 on-screen K–8 science lessons. Science is not lab work; literature has three pilot chapters, writing assignments are a parent-graded pilot, and world languages are not offered. The free plan is described as one child and one daily session. Family is listed at $19.99 a month or $199 per year, with up to four children and unlimited sessions, but checkout is not live and the plan cannot be bought or trialed. The public beta has ended, new registrations are closed, and the app is unavailable to families during its wind-down.
MobyMax
MobyMax helps teachers identify and address learning gaps for students from kindergarten through eighth grade. It offers 115 curriculum modules and assigns lessons based on diagnostic results and student progress. Assessments include Skill Checker, Placement Tests and Benchmarker tests based on state standards. Teachers can monitor progress in real time and review standards data by student, class, school or district. Interactive Class tools support live lessons using the curriculum. Automatic rostering is available through Clever and ClassLink; users can also sign in with Google Classroom credentials or import a CSV. Clever use has licensing eligibility requirements, and continued syncing requires at least 11 active students per school. MobyMax is available on Android, iOS, macOS, web and Windows; its remote-learning document says it works on a device with a browser and internet connection. The free educator version provides limited access compared with licensed features. The Family plan costs $7.99 per month for K–8 subjects. The maker says it complies with COPPA and FERPA, does not collect students’ personal home addresses, Social Security numbers or dates of birth, and uses encryption to protect personal information.
