In their own words
Lunatask
Lunatask is an encrypted, cloud-based personal organization app for Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, and Android, with API and browser-extension support. It combines to-do lists, habit tracking, journaling, life tracking, notes, and relationship reminders. Task workflows include a Kanban-like approach, Must/Should/Want, the Eisenhower Matrix, timers, and work-in-progress limits. It also tracks moods, emotions, energy, and stress. Notes and notebooks can be PIN-protected, and calendar connections include Google, Outlook, iCloud, Proton, Fastmail, Hey, Facebook Events, iCal/ics, and CalDAV; these currently sync one way into Lunatask. Free includes 2 Areas of Life, 7 Daily Habits, and 30 Relationships. Premium costs $6 a month when billed annually or 8.00 USD monthly, adding unlimited areas, habits, and relationships plus calendar integrations and additional planning tools. Data is encrypted on the device before cloud storage, although task metadata remains unencrypted. Offline use is temporary, with later synchronization.
Microsoft To Do
Microsoft To Do is a free personal task-management app for organizing daily work and focusing attention. Its My Day view shows a daily task list with suggestions, while unfinished items remain available for later. Tasks can include due dates, reminders, repeat schedules, steps, and notes. Separate lists help organize work, shopping, travel, or other activities. Lists can be shared through invitation links, although collaborators need Microsoft accounts. With the same account, tasks are stored in Exchange Online and appear automatically in To Do and Outlook; flagged email can also become tasks when enabled. Microsoft says synchronization and storage use encryption at rest and in transit, and the web app has undergone audits including SOC 2 Type 1. The app runs on web, Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android. Work or school accounts require an enabled To Do license and an Exchange Online mailbox. To Do does not display several Outlook Tasks fields, including dates, status, completion percentage, work hours, colors, and categories.
