In their own words

LuppetX

LuppetX is a Windows application that animates 3D VTuber characters using webcam and Leap Motion tracking. It focuses on upper-body expression, including eye and arm movement, and supports hand tracking and lip-sync. The software animates VRM files, including VRM 1.0, and attached accessories such as ribbons, cat ears, necklaces, or microphones can follow the character. Tracked motion is sent in real time to other applications through the VMC Protocol, for uses such as OBS streaming, avatar meetings, and presentations. The stated requirements are Windows 10 64-bit, a GTX 970 or better, an Intel Core i5-4460 equivalent or better, 8 GB RAM, an Ultraleap device, and a webcam. The maker describes a setup without prior calibration: wear Leap Motion around the neck and point a webcam at yourself. Version 1.1.0 works offline and needs no account or license purchase. That version is a free download; Personal costs 6600.00 JPY once, and Enterprise costs 99800.00 JPY once. Support ended October 4, 2026, and the maker says it is dissolving.

OpenVT

OpenVT is free, open-source software for 2D Vtubing, with native Linux desktop support as a stated priority. It imports Live2D avatars and works with OpenSeeFace, which requires a separate executable, or with VTubeStudio over Wi-Fi TCP. Transparent windows support alpha-based capture in OBS without a virtual camera or direct framebuffer access. Adjustable filtering can sharpen pixel-art model scaling, and multi-window popout controls provide separate control windows. Models can be shared with VTubeStudio without changing their files, while OpenVT keeps its own settings separate to avoid naming collisions. The project is built in Godot using open-source solutions and targets VTubeStudio feature parity, excluding complex features such as plugin compatibility and VNet. Precompiled itch.io builds are offered nightly when changes occur, though they are not guaranteed stable. OpenVT is available on Linux under a free plan listed as free, billed as “Name your own price.”
