In their own words
Mailpit
Mailpit is a free, open-source tool for checking email content and SMTP delivery without sending messages to real addresses. It runs a local SMTP server alongside a web interface and REST API, and is available for Linux, macOS, Windows, Docker, and self-hosted deployment. The interface displays formatted HTML, source, text, headers, raw messages, and MIME attachments with image thumbnails. Checks include HTML and link testing, message screenshots, and optional SpamAssassin scoring. The API can access, search, send, delete, tag, and release messages; messages can also be relayed, forwarded, or used to trigger configurable SMTP errors. Mailpit can send message-summary webhooks and offers a Cypress package for integration tests. The web UI and API can use HTTPS and basic authentication; SMTP supports optional authentication and TLS. By default, SMTP listens on port 1025 without encryption or authentication. Mailpit keeps the most recent 500 messages by default.
RenderOps
RenderOps is a browser-based email development suite with 36 tools for email engineers. Its Prism Simulator previews templates across 21 email clients. Other utilities inline CSS, convert flexbox layouts to Outlook tables, compile MJML and minify HTML to help prevent Gmail clipping. Checks cover spam trigger phrases, WCAG accessibility, color contrast, and SPF, DKIM and DMARC alignment. Compose AI generates email layouts from prompts, while Oracle AI simulates how assistants summarize email content. The tools and guides reference Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, Yahoo, Google Analytics campaign links, Klaviyo, HubSpot, Mailchimp and Salesforce Marketing Cloud. RenderOps says standard email utilities run locally in the browser and proprietary templates are not uploaded, stored or analyzed by its servers. Some features, including AI generation, countdown GIFs and DNS verification, send request parameters through edge servers transiently. Free tools work offline once loaded; a standalone MIT-licensed npm package offers 10 offline CLI tools. The Free Forever plan includes 10 core client-side utilities. Freelancer Pro is listed at $10.00 per month, and the pricing page offers 14 days of full Pro access without a credit card.
