In their own words
MakeIcon
MakeIcon creates customizable app icons for iOS, Android and web from open-source icon collections. The site lists more than 8,000 icons, including collections from Lucide, Font Awesome and Material Design. Users can change color, background, shape, gradient, padding and size, with previews on device mockups. The main generator exports PNG files or a ZIP bundle with platform sizes for iOS, Android and web. Separate AI tools generate icons and SVGs from text prompts, with SVG or PNG downloads. Liquid Glass Studio supports layered artwork, real-time WebGL2 effects, PNG exports up to 4096px and ZIP bundles with default, dark and clear variants. MakeIcon works in a browser without installation on Windows, Mac, Linux and mobile devices. Its free plan requires no signup and adds no watermark. The About page says icon designs are processed in the browser and not uploaded, stored or tracked; AI prompts go to Cloudflare Workers AI. AI use is subject to fair-use rate limits, and customized icons may be collected anonymously for the public library.
OhMyIcon
OhMyIcon is a free browser tool for generating favicon packages and iOS and Android app icons. A favicon package can contain multi-resolution ICO and PNG files, Apple and Android icons, a Windows tile, starter manifest files, and HTML meta tags. The site also lists image, text, and emoji favicon generators, an app icon generator, a favicon checker, and image utilities. The app icon generator creates 12 iOS sizes and six Android sizes, including the 1024-pixel App Store icon and 512-pixel Play Store icon. Its image favicon tool accepts PNG, JPG, SVG, and WebP files, recommends at least 260×260 pixels, and allows uploads up to 25 MB. Processing runs in the browser through the Canvas API, so source images are not uploaded to OhMyIcon’s servers. The favicon checker instead fetches a URL’s public HTML head and may use a public CORS proxy. The site says it works in modern Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari on desktop and mobile, including offline use after loading. It requires no signup and lists no usage limits. Android adaptive foreground and background layers are not generated.
