In their own words
MapLarge
MapLarge Application Fabric is a platform for building governed operational AI applications from live satellite, sensor, and enterprise data. It combines dashboards, task management, alerting, sharing and collaboration, and a mapping engine. Its analytics toolkit supports GIS and track analytics across land, sea, air, space, indoor, and logical graph data. Deployments can run in cloud, on-premises, edge, mobile, or disconnected environments. Hosting options include SaaS or managed cloud, hybrid cloud, AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform; supported systems include Linux, Windows, Kubernetes, Docker, and OpenShift. The platform lists REST, JavaScript, and TypeScript APIs, SDKs for Java, Python, Node.js, C#, TypeScript, and JavaScript, OGC services, and major database support. Integrations include mapping, GIS, analytics, Salesforce, Dropbox, SharePoint, and Amazon connectors. Security includes role-based access, granular sharing, row- or cell-level permissions, and authentication through SAML, OAuth, Active Directory, PKI, or tokens. Pricing is on request.
OpenJUMP GIS
OpenJUMP GIS is a free, open-source desktop Geographic Information System written in Java and maintained by volunteers. It runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows; the site lists version 2.4.0, dated January 15, 2025, as the latest release. It is designed for geometry and attribute editing, map styling, and vector analysis, including topology and overlay operations. It reads and writes shapefiles and simple GML files, with plugins extending support to other vector formats. It can read from spatial databases, write to PostGIS, work with WFS and WMS services, and use images. Maps can be exported to SVG. Plugins add options such as database readers, printing, quality checks, charts, GIS analysis, and raster tools; installation requires placing a plugin JAR in the lib/ext folder and restarting. Users can ask questions in a forum or mailing list, while developers have a separate mailing list and bug reports and feature requests go through trackers. The project notes that it does not provide all the features of proprietary GIS software.
