Overview

Mcgic Banner Maker is a browser-based Minecraft banner designer that turns layered patterns into either crafting guidance or a Java command. It is a strong fit for builders who want to plan a design and then reproduce it in-game. Its six-layer ceiling and Java-only command output are the main constraints.

The preview uses Minecraft banner geometry, a 20×40 grid, and all 16 dye colors, making it useful for judging a design’s layout. It is flat vector art, however, so it will not show the cloth texture or lighting of an in-game banner.

Key features

Pattern editing: Choose a base cloth color and add up to six layers from more than 40 loom patterns, including stripes, shapes, borders, gradients, and special patterns. Randomize, reorder, duplicate, delete, undo, and redo tools support experimentation without forcing a restart.
Loom guidance: Loom Steps identifies the dye and pattern item needed for each layer. Mcgic says every starter design is craftable on a vanilla loom, which makes the tool useful even if you would rather craft the banner than enter a command.
Commands: Generate commands for banners or shields with /give or /setblock, in modern Java Edition format for 1.20.5+ or legacy NBT for 1.13–1.20.4. Bedrock players cannot use these commands; the loom steps are the practical alternative. The tool warns when a command exceeds Minecraft chat’s 256-character limit and recommends a command block.
Export and saving: Copy commands, download a PNG, or share a design link. Saved banners stay in the current browser, so this is convenient for returning on the same device but not a cross-device design library.

Pricing

Mcgic Banner Maker is free: the Free plan is free, is completely free, and requires no account. It includes command output, a live preview, a six-layer limit, image export, and the banner pattern catalog. There is no free trial because there is no paid tier to try. That makes it suitable for occasional players and creators who need a focused banner tool without a subscription; the tradeoff is the fixed layer cap rather than a higher-cap paid option.

Platforms

The tool is browser-based and listed for web, Android, and iOS. Its generated commands target Java Edition, not Bedrock. Mcgic says the tools run in the browser and that designs, commands, and exports remain on the device; it may also use minimal anonymous analytics and third-party integrations to collect activity data.

Who it's for

Builders, server owners, map makers, and technical Minecraft players are the clearest audience, particularly those who want both a visual planning space and exact loom steps or Java commands. It is less suitable for Bedrock players seeking command generation, or for anyone whose design needs more than six layers. Mcgic says it is not affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft, and provides a contact form for help, feedback, or collaboration.

Pros and cons

Pro: More than 40 patterns and six layers offer substantial variety for a free banner editor.
Pro: Loom Steps bridge the gap between designing on-screen and crafting in vanilla Minecraft.
Pro: Modern and legacy Java commands cover a broad range of supported versions and both banner and shield use.
Con: The six-layer limit rules out more elaborate designs.
Con: Java-only commands leave Bedrock users with loom instructions rather than direct command output.
Con: The flat preview cannot convey in-game cloth texture or lighting, and saved designs remain in the current browser.

Verdict
