In their own words
Mendix
Mendix is a low-code platform for building, running, and orchestrating apps and agents for a hybrid workforce. In Studio Pro, teams model application logic, data, workflows, and user experience visually, while retaining the option to add custom code. Its AI capabilities span planning, generation, deployment, and operations, and it can connect external language models, agents, knowledge bases, and tools. The Mendix Connect Catalog can include connectors to enterprise data sources such as Siemens Teamcenter, SAP, and Mendix applications. Applications can be deployed to public cloud or on-premises, including air-gapped environments. Listed capabilities include mobile publishing, a built-in database, user authentication, and API integrations. The free package allows unlimited users and one deployment environment per application, but includes neither product support nor guaranteed availability. Standard pricing is $1,090 a month for One App or $2,725 a month for Unlimited Apps; cloud deployment may cost extra. Mendix was founded in Rotterdam in 2005 and says it was acquired by Siemens in 2018.
ToolJet
ToolJet is a platform for building internal tools and business applications, with screens, data queries, application logic, and permissions. ToolJet AI can turn a plain-language request into an app draft whose components are connected to queries. Workflow automation supports data syncing, approvals, scheduled jobs, and notifications. The platform lists more than 100 native connectors and supports REST and gRPC endpoints; each workspace also includes ToolJet Database, a no-code table editor built on PostgreSQL. Security controls include SAML, OIDC, and LDAP single sign-on, role-based permissions, and workspace audit logs. ToolJet says it encrypts data in transit with TLS and data-source credentials with AES-256-GCM. Its security resources include SOC 2 audit information, ISO 27001, and GDPR materials. Community and enterprise editions can be deployed on-premise, including in an air-gapped configuration. ToolJet is available through web, API, and self-hosting. The cloud Free plan is available, and paid plans start at $23 per month; a 14-day trial is listed.
