In their own words

Metasyn

Metasyn generates synthetic tabular data to help make sensitive datasets more accessible, reproducible, and reusable. Users fit a MetaFrame to a dataframe, save the model and settings as auditable JSON, then generate new rows. It handles varied data types, missing values, categories, unique key columns, and structured strings such as postcodes or identifiers. Metasyn supports pandas and Polars dataframes and uses Faker for localized names, emails, phone numbers, and other data. By default, its model excludes multivariate information to reduce disclosure risks. A disclosure-control plugin is available, but synthetic output still needs human review and is not guaranteed to be free of sensitive information. The plugin system allows users and organizations to add extensions. Generated dataframes can be exported to CSV, Parquet, Excel, and other formats. The free, MIT-licensed Python package is self-hosted and can be installed with pip from PyPI or directly from GitHub. The project also points users to versioned Docker containers and a command-line interface. Its intended users include public organizations, research groups, and individual researchers with sensitive datasets.

Windocks

Windocks provides container-based database cloning, masking, synthetic data generation and orchestration for non-production environments. Listed uses include development, testing, support, ML/AI, reporting and DevOps. Databases can be delivered on demand through a web application, command line or REST API. Supported databases include SQL Server, Oracle 11 and later, PostgreSQL, MySQL and Azure SQL. The maker says writable clones are delivered in seconds regardless of database size and share disk blocks, avoiding extra storage for multiple copies. Production refreshes can be automated, and sensitive data can be obfuscated before delivery; synthetic data is another privacy measure. SQL Server containers support versions 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2022, with Agent, Analysis, Reporting and Integration services. Docker command-line use and PowerShell or Bash automation are listed; storage documentation names PureStorage, Cohesity and NetApp. Windocks says it runs on standard Linux and Windows servers without proprietary hardware. The Free plan allows a 1 GB database image and one simultaneous container, with no support. Standard costs $499 a month billed annually and includes a 100 GB image limit, five containers, Linux and email support.
