In their own words
mimem.ai
mimem.ai turns recorded video into 3D skeleton animation through a cloud-based, markerless motion-capture workflow. It accepts footage from cameras such as DSLRs, webcams, and smartphones; its maker says calibration is unnecessary. Users record with the companion app or another device, upload video for processing, then preview animation online and download FBX files for tools including Unity, Unreal Engine, Blender, Maya, MotionBuilder, and Cascadeur. Users can upload a character and retarget a take, with IK retargeting for foot and hand placement included in paid plans. Every plan includes commercial usage, finger tracking, synchronized video, and calibration-free tracking. A 30-second clip typically processes in 2–5 minutes, with priority processing for Pro users. The companion app pairs iOS and Android phones as synchronized cameras. Free includes 50 daily tokens, 2 GB storage, three cameras, and three monthly FBX exports; retargeting is preview-only. Essential costs €25/mo. Uploaded videos and derived motion data may be used to improve AI models; users can opt out for future submissions in account settings. Real-time output is not available.
XR Animator
XR Animator is a free tool for driving MMD or VRM 3D avatars from pose input. It uses MediaPipe and TensorFlow.js to detect poses from webcam video, and supports face, full-body, and combined face, body, and hand tracking. Full-body tracking can use a webcam or an image or video file. Face tracking supports 52 ARKit-compatible blendshapes. Users can record motion capture, export VMD, BVH, and glTF motion, and load VMD, FBX, and BVH motion files; FBX or BVH motion can also be exported to VMD. The scene can include 2D images or video, 3D panoramas, and .x or .glb objects. The web app works in major desktop and smartphone browsers, while Electron apps are available for Windows, Linux, and macOS. Android Chrome supports augmented reality. VMC protocol support and a frameless transparent background for capture apps are limited to Electron mode. The project notes that smartphones with limited processing power may be better suited to face tracking alone.
