| Integrations | The Chrome extension captures browser requests and adds selected endpoints to a Mockfly project. | The project describes integration with JUnit and other testing frameworks, and offers Maven, Gradle, Scala SBT, standalone, and Docker getting-started options. |
| Intended users | Mockfly describes its users as frontend, backend, mobile, QA, and testing engineers who need shared mock APIs. | The pricing page describes the Free plan as intended for individual users and solo projects, and the Enterprise plan for larger teams or API volume. |
| Purpose | Mockfly creates hosted mock REST API endpoints so teams can build and test before a backend is ready. | WireMock simulates APIs and software dependencies so teams can test without those dependencies, simulate edge cases, and develop dependent features in parallel. |
| Support | Support is provided directly by the builders through email, in English or Spanish. | The open-source project generally provides no support or guarantees under Apache License 2.0; users can seek community assistance, while WireMock Cloud Enterprise includes priority support with a guaranteed SLA. |

In their own words
Mockfly
Mockfly provides hosted mock REST API endpoints for teams building or testing before a backend is ready. An endpoint can return JSON, XML, or files such as PDFs and CSVs, and can select among several responses using rules tied to incoming requests. Mock data can use Faker.js templates or AI-generated JSON. Projects can start from OpenAPI, Swagger, Postman collection, or HAR imports; a Chrome extension can capture browser requests and add selected endpoints. Teams can share and edit mocks, inspect request logs, and review response-body history. For offline work, the mockfly-cli npm package pulls projects to serve locally. A public REST API and MCP server support programmatic mock creation and editing. Mockfly lists API, extension, Linux, self-hosted, and web platforms, and supports REST and WebSocket. The free Starter plan allows 500 requests per day, one project, four endpoints, and two responses per endpoint. Pro costs €15 a month; Team costs €49 a month; Company is listed from €199 a month.
WireMock
WireMock simulates APIs and software dependencies so teams can test without live services, exercise edge cases, and build dependent features in parallel. It can match requests using URL patterns, headers, query parameters, cookies, and body content, then return templated responses or simulate delays, network faults, and malformed replies. It can also record interactions with real services and replay them during tests.
The project integrates with JUnit and other testing frameworks, with setup paths for Maven, Gradle, Scala SBT, standalone use, and Docker. Its documented capabilities cover HTTP-based protocols and REST, plus WebSockets, webhooks, HTTPS, gRPC, and GraphQL. WireMock Java is available as a standalone JAR, Docker image, experimental Helm chart, and NPM package; WireMock Cloud is another option. The Free plan costs nothing and includes 1,000 calls per month, one user, three mock APIs, and a 10 requests-per-second limit. Free and trial plans stop running mocks after their API quota is exceeded until the next quota cycle.
