In their own words
MoinMoin
MoinMoin is a free, extensible wiki engine for creating and collaborating on editable web pages. It offers a WYSIWYG editor as well as text markup, and keeps page revision backups with lists and comparisons between versions. Search covers titles, full text, multiple terms, Boolean expressions, attachments, and older revisions through Xapian indexing. Configurable edit locks or warnings can help reduce editing conflicts, while RSS feeds report RecentChanges. Access controls include permission lists, multiple authentication methods, reuse of web server authentication, and modular single sign-on. Extensions include macros, parsers, actions, formatters, XML-RPC, and themes. MoinMoin stores page content in directories and does not require an external SQL database. It can run on Linux, UNIX, BSD, Mac OS X, Windows, and OpenVMS through several server options. The download page lists version 1.9.11, released in 2020; the 2.0 repository is described as unstable and alpha quality at best. Free project support is available, and consultants and developers also offer paid support.
Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware
Tiki Wiki CMS Groupware is free, open-source web software that combines wiki, content management, and collaboration tools. Users can create pages with wiki syntax, HTML, a WYSIWYG editor, or Markdown; pages support revision history, categories, tags, structures, and detailed permissions. The system also includes articles, blogs, forums, file galleries, trackers, newsletters, surveys, calendars, and chat. Trackers collect structured information through forms and can turn it into reports or other displays. File galleries support sharing, previous versions, WebDAV, and search within files. Tiki is self-hosted and can be downloaded as a release archive or obtained through third-party installation methods; managed hosting is offered through TikiHosting.com. It lists editorial workflows, custom roles and content types, multilingual content, SEO tools, and a media library. The interface has translations at varying levels of completeness for 54 languages. Tiki documents security controls and recommends keeping installations updated, checking permissions, using strong passwords, and backing up installations. BigBlueButton integration requires an accessible server and shared secret.
