In their own words
Moonshot
Moonshot is a web-based AI video editor for creators who teach, sell, or explain through short videos. Its workflow starts with an uploaded talking-head clip: choose a caption style, edit the transcript, then receive a vertical short. Editing tools include word-timed captions, B-roll cutaways, automatic zooms, sound effects, music, and audio cleanup. Captions support 109 languages, can be burned into the video, and can be exported as SRT subtitles. The Free plan provides five total minutes for upload and preview, allows videos up to five minutes each, and does not include video export. Creator costs $9 a month and adds 45 shared minutes per week, 50 AI credits per month, and 1080p exports at 30 fps. Pro costs $18 a month and includes 60 shared minutes weekly, 130 AI credits monthly, every template, and custom B-roll exports. Both paid plans can post and schedule to YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and Threads. Moonshot is operated by Kaizynn in Bengaluru, India.
Whisper
Whisper is an open-source speech recognition model for transcription, speech translation, language identification, and voice activity detection. Its documented command-line and Python interfaces process audio files, and it can translate speech from multiple languages into English. The repository lists six model sizes—tiny, base, small, medium, large, and turbo—with different speed and memory tradeoffs; stated VRAM needs range from about 1 GB to 10 GB, depending on size. Installation is documented through pip and requires the ffmpeg command-line tool. Rust may be needed if a prebuilt tiktoken wheel is unavailable. The code and model weights are released under the MIT License, with local installation using Python and ffmpeg. Whisper is listed for Linux, macOS, Windows, and self-hosted deployment. OpenAI says it was trained on 680,000 hours of multilingual and multitask supervised data collected from the web. Performance varies widely by language, and it does not outperform models specialized for LibriSpeech. Turbo is not trained for translation; multilingual models are recommended for translating non-English speech into English.
