MyFonts vs Open Foundry

MyFonts is an online marketplace for discovering, licensing, and downloading fonts. It lists more than 400,000 fonts from over 5,000 foundries and independent designers, with more than 900 free fonts available to account holders; an account is required even for free orders. Search options include font name, classification, and plain-language ideas, with filters for styles, price, visual properties, foundries, and languages. AI Search returns matching inventory with explanations based on a project's mood, tone, or intent. WhatTheFont uses image recognition to suggest licensable matches and is available on the web and as iOS and Android apps. Shoppers can preview fonts using custom text, adjust size and colors, and apply OpenType features. License types include Desktop, Webfont, Mobile App, Digital Ad, and Electronic Doc, though availability varies by font. Desktop packages work on Mac OS X and Windows; a Webfont license covers one domain. Available licenses do not permit use within Canva or other cloud-based or server-hosted platforms under standard terms.
