Overview

RouteCabin combines school transport tracking with the attendance, fee, and fleet work that surrounds each trip. It is best suited to independent operators and educational organizations that want those responsibilities in one system; teams seeking only vehicle location tracking may not need its broader administration tools.

Drivers can send location updates from an Android or iOS smartphone every 10 seconds, avoiding dedicated vehicle GPS hardware for that purpose. A live fleet map, route replay for 90 days, speed alerts, geofencing, and parent ETAs give operators several ways to monitor trips and keep families informed. Route planning and optimization, vehicle capacity rules, and advanced route constraints also support more involved routing needs.

Key features

RouteCabin links transport oversight to school administration. It handles fee vouchers, payment tracking, reminders for overdue fees, and attendance by vehicle and shift. Student assignments, vehicle and driver records, document expiry alerts, and vehicle expenses round out the operational picture. That range is useful for teams trying to manage daily transport and its paperwork together, though the feature breadth may be more than a tracking-only operation needs.

Parent communication is built around WhatsApp: families can receive fee receipts, reminders, attendance alerts, and trip updates without downloading an app. Mobile payments through JazzCash and Easypaisa are listed, while REST API access for custom integrations is part of Enterprise. The mix should suit organizations already using those payment services, and larger operations that need a route to custom integrations.

The service uses HTTPS, stores passwords as cryptographic hashes, encrypts third-party credentials at rest, and separates customer data at the database query level. Customer databases and uploaded files are stored in France, within the European Union. Those are relevant safeguards and a clear data-location choice for organizations weighing where their transport records reside.

Pricing

RouteCabin has a free entry point and three paid monthly plans. The main trade-off is capacity: passenger and vehicle ceilings rise with each tier, while WhatsApp, route planning, reporting, multi-branch administration, and API access are reserved for higher plans.

Free — 0.00 PKR per free (billed Rs. 0 /mo): Up to 15 passengers, one vehicle, and two drivers, with live tracking, attendance, basic fee records, and email support. It is a practical fit for a very small operation evaluating whether RouteCabin covers its basic needs, but the one-vehicle and 15-passenger caps leave little room to grow.
Starter — 3000.00 PKR per month (billed Rs. 3,000 /mo): Up to 60 passengers and three vehicles, plus live tracking, fee vouchers, payments and defaulters, driver records, expenses, and email support. This is the more useful step for a small operator whose basic free-tier capacity is no longer enough, though WhatsApp messaging and route planning are not included among its features.
Professional — 6000.00 PKR per month (billed Rs. 6,000 /mo): Up to 300 passengers and 10 vehicles, adding WhatsApp messaging, route planning, expense tracking, profit-and-loss reports, and priority support. It is aimed at established school transport services that need family messaging and financial visibility; the jump in capacity and support makes it a more substantial choice than Starter.
Enterprise — 15000.00 PKR per month (billed Rs. 15,000 /mo): Up to 800 passengers and 25 vehicles, with multi-branch and multi-campus support, custom branding, API access, and a named account manager. It fits larger or distributed organizations that need these administrative and integration options, rather than just higher passenger limits.

Free and Starter include email support; Professional adds priority support, and Enterprise assigns a named account manager. RouteCabin's listed pricing is monthly, and the stated terms do not describe an annual commitment. The free tier's strict capacity limits are its main constraint, while the paid tiers offer progressively more room and administrative depth.

Platforms

RouteCabin runs on Android, iOS, and the web, and also offers API access. Its driver app and smartphone-based location updates make mobile devices central to tracking, while web access supports the broader operational platform. CSV student-data import is supported.

Who it's for

Independent transport operators, schools and colleges, and school districts are the natural audience. Smaller operators can start with the Free or Starter tier, while services coordinating more passengers, vehicles, branches, or campuses have a clearer case for Professional or Enterprise. The service is less compelling for an organization that needs only a live map and has no use for fee, attendance, or fleet administration.

Pros and cons

Pro: Phone-based tracking sends updates every 10 seconds without dedicated vehicle GPS hardware, reducing the need for a separate tracking device.
Pro: Tracking, fee and attendance records, vehicle administration, and parent WhatsApp communication sit in the same platform, which can reduce the need to split transport work across separate systems.
Pro: A free plan lets very small operators start without a subscription charge, and paid tiers set explicit passenger and vehicle ceilings.
Con: Free is capped at 15 passengers and one vehicle, so it is a narrow fit for any operation beyond a very small fleet.
Con: WhatsApp messaging and route planning begin at Professional, while API access and multi-branch administration require Enterprise; smaller plans give up those capabilities.

Alternatives

Consider School Bus Routing Software to compare the broader category. School Bus Manager may suit organizations willing to pay annually for plans covering up to 500 riders; its Lite plan is 990.00 USD per year with a $199 one-time startup fee in the first year only, and a free trial is offered. Choose AlphaRoute if you want a paid option with pricing available by requesting a demo.

BusBoss is another paid option; its Express plan excludes GPS hardware and cellular data service costs. BusPlanner may be worth considering if self-hosted deployment is important, though its pricing is custom. Schooliy offers a free trial and a custom quote based on the number of schools, buses, and students. EZRouting provides pricing on request. RouteBot is a paid option with a free plan. Guardian Route uses a monthly organization subscription priced according to fleet size and quoted after a demo.

Verdict

RouteCabin is a strong fit for school transport operators and institutions that want tracking, fees, attendance, and fleet administration under one roof, with phone-based location updates that do not require dedicated vehicle hardware. Its most important drawback is the capacity ceiling on Free and the feature gates between paid tiers: look elsewhere if you need tracking alone, or if WhatsApp, route planning, or API access must fit a lower-cost plan.
