Overview

MyStudyLife is a student planner built around academic timetables, assignments and exam preparation. It is best suited to students who need a flexible schedule and want their work and revision kept together; the five-task free-plan limit is the main constraint to weigh.

Its maker, MyStudyLife, was founded in 2011 and is based in Cavendish Square, London. Family Connect gives parents or guardians a way to see upcoming work and exams and help add classes or tasks, while a separate solution serves schools.

Key features

Timetables and assignments

Rotating, block, A/B and custom timetables, with term dates and holidays, suit school schedules that do not follow the same pattern every week. Homework tasks have seven types, due dates, reminders, partial completion and auto-repeat. That breadth helps students keep different kinds of work in one planner, although the five-task free cap can be restrictive when several assignments and revision items overlap.

Revision and study tools

Scout can answer questions about a student's schedule and use classes and deadlines to build weekly or exam revision plans. Exam countdowns and grade recording add academic context, while a Pomodoro timer supports focused work sessions. These tools make MyStudyLife more than a timetable, but the AI feature's free access is limited to a first timetable scan; unlimited Scout use is part of MSL+.

Calendar, sync and privacy

Calendar connections include Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, iCal feeds, Blackboard and Canvas. Cloud storage and offline use help keep the planner accessible across devices, but data must sync before a device is lost for it to be retrieved elsewhere. MyStudyLife says it does not sell user information or show ads, allows users to export or delete their data, and is GDPR and FERPA aligned.

Pricing

MyStudyLife uses a freemium model with a 7-day trial and two plans:

Plan	Price	What it includes
Free	0.00 USD per free	Full planner, up to five homework and revision tasks at a time, first AI timetable scan, and web, iPhone and Android access.
MSL+	6.99 USD per month	Unlimited tasks, subtasks and repeating tasks, unlimited Scout AI, calendar sync, activities, and additional task and exam types.

Free is a sensible starting point for students who can keep active work within five tasks and do not need ongoing Scout use or calendar sync. MSL+ removes the task ceiling and adds the planning features most useful to students with fuller workloads. Its stated price is billed monthly; a longer-term price is not given.

Platforms

MyStudyLife runs on the web, iOS and Android. Cross-device access is useful for students moving between a computer and phone, while offline use provides access without a connection. Remember to sync before losing access to a device if you need its data on another one.

Who it's for

Students with changing timetables, multiple assignment types and exam revision to manage are the clearest fit. Family Connect may also suit parents or guardians who want to follow upcoming work and help maintain a student's planner. Students who need more than five active tasks, or who rely on calendar sync and ongoing AI planning, should consider MSL+; those who only need a small task list may not need to pay.

Pros and cons

Pro: Rotating, block, A/B and custom schedules accommodate academic timetables that a basic weekly planner may not fit.
Pro: Homework, revision, exam countdowns, grades and focus sessions sit within the same student planner.
Pro: Offline use, calendar connections and Family Connect support planning across devices and, when wanted, with a parent or guardian.
Con: Five active homework and revision tasks on Free can be too few once assignments and exam preparation accumulate.
Con: Unlimited tasks, calendar sync and unlimited Scout AI require MSL+ at 6.99 USD per month.
Con: Retrieving data from another device depends on syncing before the original device is lost.

Alternatives

Power Planner is worth considering for students who want a planner across Android, iOS, macOS, web and Windows; its free plan limits use to one semester, five grades per class, one repeating bulk task or event entry, and one photo attachment per item.
Save My Exams is another freemium option with a free trial and Premium access to its resources.
myHomework Student Planner suits someone looking for a free, ad-supported basic plan with assignment, project and test tracking, class tracking, due-date reminders and device sync.
Adapt may suit students seeking revision content and practice questions; its free plan limits both and shows ads.
Altitask is a web and browser-extension alternative with a free plan capped at three Altitasks, 25 tasks, five projects and five notes.
Fasti is an alternative for Android, iOS and web users whose needs fit its free allowance of up to 30 events and recurring blocks.
Simplyr is another study-planning option, with a free plan covering courses, assignments, exams, grades, planning and focus timers.
Helium is a free, open-source alternative available on web and mobile, including self-hosted use.

Verdict

Choose MyStudyLife if you want one planner for an irregular academic timetable, homework and exam revision across web and mobile. Its flexible schedules and connected study tools make a strong student-focused package, but the five-task free cap is a real limit. Students with busier workloads should budget for MSL+; those who need only a small, basic task list can stay on Free.
