Overview

TaxDown is an online Spanish tax-preparation and filing service for individuals and self-employed users who want automated calculations backed by a tax expert. Its strongest case is a return involving deductions, rental or investment income, or a need for help with tax notices; the free plan stops before expert review and filing.

Key features

Preparation and review

TaxDown imports tax data using Cl@ve PIN, a digital certificate or a reference number. Its Rita engine selects applicable questions and checks more than 250 deductions and tax benefits, which can be useful when a return is more involved than a basic salary filing. Paid return plans include expert review before submission, and state filing is included. TaxDown says it does not submit a return without the user's confirmation.

Income and tax matters

The service supports self-employment, rental and investment income. For rentals, it calculates income and expenses and identifies deductible costs and exemptions; for investments, it calculates gains and losses and integrates investment platforms. It also handles tax notices: AI identifies a notice's type, year and deadline, then the team prepares a response. TaxDown says its subscriptions cover more than 20 procedures and assistance options, including services for foreign residents.

Support and security

Support varies by plan, from basic fiscal assistance to WhatsApp access and a dedicated adviser. A virtual assistant operates 24/7, while chat, email or phone support is described as responding within 24 hours. TaxDown says its connection to Hacienda uses Cl@ve and encrypted data, and that it uses firewalls and Amazon Web Services security. It says it does not sell or share customer data.

Pricing

The free plan costs €0.00 and lets users calculate a return and see the result without entering a card. It is a useful way to estimate an outcome, but expert review and filing require a paid plan.

PRO — €35.00 per year, billed annually: one return, calculation and optimization, expert review, filing with Hacienda, covered notifications and fiscal support within 24 hours. This is the entry point for someone who wants a single return reviewed and filed.
LIVE — €45.00 per year, billed annually: everything in PRO, plus advisers by chat or WhatsApp and preferential responses in minutes. The €10 annual premium buys more direct access to help.
FULL — €65.00 per year, billed annually: everything in LIVE, a personal adviser, review of the last four returns and models 149, 151 and 210. It does not include traceability or second residence procedures, and is unavailable under the foral tax regime, so those limits matter before choosing it.
STANDARD — €29.90 per month, monthly, with a three-month minimum: aimed at autónomos, with self-employment registration, quarterly IRPF and IVA filings, an included income tax return, a 24-hour AI assistant and chat support within 24 hours.
PREMIUM — €59.90 per month, monthly, with a three-month minimum: everything in STANDARD, plus a personal manager, priority WhatsApp, tax-notice assistance and tax planning. It suits self-employed users who want an ongoing human contact; the higher monthly commitment is substantial compared with the annual personal-return plans.

Subscriptions purchased from 15 March through 31 December renew between February and March. They can be cancelled on the website and remain active through the end of the billing cycle. Major cards, Google Pay and Apple Pay are accepted.

Platforms

TaxDown runs on the web, Android and iOS, so users can prepare a return from a computer or phone. The maker says its apps are available through Google Play and the App Store.

Who it's for

TaxDown is best suited to Spanish taxpayers who value expert review and may need deduction checks, rental or investment calculations, or help with tax notices. Its separate monthly plans target autónomos handling quarterly obligations as well as an annual return. It is a weaker fit for someone who only wants to file a straightforward return at no cost, or for a taxpayer under the foral regime considering FULL.

Pros and cons

Pros: paid personal plans combine automated deduction checks with expert review and filing; rental and investment income are supported; web and mobile access let users work across devices.

Verdict

Look elsewhere if a free filing option is essential, or if FULL's exclusions rule out the help you need.
