Overview

TransferGo combines international money transfers with an account for holding GBP, EUR, PLN and RON. It suits people who send money across borders and want those balances alongside multiple ways to pay recipients.

The no-monthly-cost account and upfront fee display are useful, but transfer charges and exchange markups mean “free” applies to keeping the account open, not necessarily to moving or converting money.

Key features

Multiple recipient routes: Transfers reach more than 160 countries and can go to bank accounts, cards, e-wallets or cash recipients. That range fits senders whose recipients do not all use bank accounts; the listed instant speed is not a guarantee that every route arrives instantly, and one bank-account option is described as next-business-day delivery.
Fee visibility and tracking: TransferGo shows fees upfront and lets users track transfers. These are practical safeguards when comparing a transfer before sending and monitoring it afterward.
Four-currency account: Hold GBP, EUR, PLN and RON with no setup or monthly cost. Transfers to TransferGo accounts are free, which helps users moving money within the service, but the four supported balances may not suit someone needing other currencies.
Exchange and transfer charges: Exchange uses a markup model and starts at 0.5%, or 0.2% for in-account exchanges. Bank transfers start at 0.2%; card transfers also start at 0.2%, depending on card and region, and may incur third-party fees. The lowest starting rates are not a promise of the final cost for a particular route.
ATM withdrawals: UK and EEA withdrawals have a £500 monthly free limit across up to three withdrawals; rest-of-world withdrawals have a £200 monthly free limit across up to three withdrawals. These caps matter to frequent cash users, who may need to pay beyond the free allowance.
Security and service: TransferGo says it uses end-to-end encryption and safeguarding measures intended to return money if a transfer fails. It is regulated under EU and UK law and authorised by the FCA as an EMI. Customer service is available in English and nine other languages.

Pricing

TransferGo uses a freemium model. The Free multicurrency account has no setup or monthly charge, supports multiple currency balances and allows free transfers to TransferGo accounts. It fits people who want to hold the supported currencies without a recurring account bill; it does not make external transfers or currency exchange free.

International bank-account transfers start at 0.2%, while transfers to cards start at 0.2% depending on card and region. A separate bank-transfer option offers next-business-day delivery, also from 0.2%. Card transfers may bring third-party fees, so they can cost more than the starting fee.

Currency exchange starts at 0.5%, falling to 0.2% for exchanges within the account. The multi-currency account and Virtual GoCard are shown as GBP free in the localized pricing, with the GoCard ready instantly in the app. These no-cost account terms are attractive for occasional use, while users who exchange often should weigh the markup on each conversion.

There is no single fixed price for every transfer: charges depend on transfer type, and card costs may depend on card and region. Compare the applicable charge before sending rather than treating the starting rates as a flat tariff.

Platforms

TransferGo has Android and iOS apps, and registration can also be completed online from a computer. The desktop registration option helps people who prefer to set up an account outside a phone app, though the service’s listed mobile platforms are limited to those two systems.

Who it's for

TransferGo is a sensible fit for people who regularly send money internationally, need different recipient methods, or want to hold GBP, EUR, PLN and RON without a monthly account fee. The upfront fee display and tracking also suit senders who want to check costs and follow a transfer.

It is less compelling for users who need balances in other currencies, make frequent ATM withdrawals beyond the free limits, or prioritize avoiding exchange markups. TransferGo Business also offers a multi-currency business account for global payments, but the consumer account should not be mistaken for that business offering.

Pros and cons

Pros: Transfers cover more than 160 countries and offer bank, card, e-wallet and cash delivery, providing flexibility for recipients.
Pros: The multi-currency account has no setup or monthly cost, and transfers between TransferGo accounts are free.
Pros: Upfront fee display and tracking give senders useful visibility before and after a transfer.
Cons: Exchange starts at a 0.5% markup outside in-account exchanges, which can add up for users who convert frequently.
Cons: Card transfers may carry third-party fees, and ATM withdrawals are free only within monthly amount and transaction-count limits.
Cons: The account supports four named balance currencies, limiting its usefulness to people managing other currencies.

Alternatives

Money Transfer Apps is a useful starting point for comparing services if TransferGo’s fee structure or account currencies do not fit.

Consider Wise if you want a service with Android, iOS and web platforms and a free account registration with pay-as-you-go use rather than subscriptions or plans.

Remitly is another option for bank deposits and cash pickup; its example pricing includes a US-to-France bank deposit and a cash-pickup plan.

Xe Money Transfer may suit someone who wants Android, iOS and web access, though some transfers have fees that depend on currency, destination and payment method.

Paysera may be a better fit for a personal multi-currency IBAN account and a monthly allowance of 30 free SEPA or SEPA Instant transfers.

Panda Remit is an alternative to compare for international transfers; its stated fee applies to US-origin transfers to global destinations and may vary by amount and destination.

OFX is worth considering if a global business account is the priority; registration is free and there is no minimum account balance requirement.

CurrencyFair may suit users comfortable with a €3 monthly international-transfer fee after currency exchange.

Zelle is a narrower alternative for eligible U.S. checking or savings accounts, where consumer use typically has no fees.

Verdict

Choose TransferGo if you need international transfers across varied recipient methods and want a no-monthly-cost account for GBP, EUR, PLN and RON. Its strongest case is that combination of reach, recipient choice and free account holding; look elsewhere if frequent currency conversion, third-party card charges or the ATM caps would undermine the savings.
