In their own words
Neon AI
Neon AI describes private expert AI systems built with local fine-tuned language models, interactive panels, and human participants. Its collaborative architecture lets human specialists and AI subminds converse in real time, with logic that can be audited and traced. BrainForge turns company documents into a knowledge network and lists Drive, GitHub, Slack, Notion, Dropbox, and SharePoint as sources. Supported content formats include PDF, CSV, Markdown, DOCX, and HTML. Neon says deployments can run on premises or in a private cloud, connect to existing CRMs, helpdesks, APIs, chat systems, and databases, and use long-term semantic memory refined through conversations and analytics. Its examples span internal operations and HR, sales and marketing, product and customer service, and clinical work. A Python SDK is free for non-commercial use under 1000 users; it includes Deep Speech for offline use and Google Speech when online. Neon lists Android, Linux, self-hosted, and web platforms, plus voice and generative AI capabilities. Broader pricing is on request. The company says it began in Bellevue, Washington, in 2000 as an internet research lab and software developer under the name NeonGecko.
Pipecat
Pipecat is an open-source ecosystem for building voice and multimodal AI agents. Its pipelines can handle voice, video, text, and images, with control over individual frames in a conversation. Because frames move through the pipeline as they are produced, an agent can begin responding before a person has finished speaking. The framework includes interruption handling, turn detection, context management, subagent handoffs, and Pipecat Flows, and its homepage lists more than 200 providers and services for speech, language, and vision. Transports include WebRTC, SIP, and PSTN, alongside client SDKs, a UI kit, metrics, traces, and OpenTelemetry. Teams can run it on infrastructure that supports Python or deploy it to Pipecat Cloud, which adds scaling and observability. Cloud capabilities include telephony, noise cancellation, monitoring, recordings, and persistent transcription storage. Pipecat Cloud is listed at $0.001 per participant minute for Daily WebRTC voice and $0.004 per participant minute for voice and video; connected third-party services using customer keys are billed by their providers.
