| Extensibility | The project describes a modular plugin and collector architecture that supports custom metrics and integrations with other monitoring systems. | PCP provides APIs, libraries, and a plugin framework for collecting and using performance data from applications and other sources. |
| Integrations | Netdata advertises more than 800 collectors and notification integrations, including operating systems, databases, containers, cloud services, OpenMetrics, StatsD and logs. | The project provides a Grafana plugin, Ansible roles, Java instrumentation, and a PDF graph converter. |
| Intended users | The site lists platform engineers, DevOps teams, SREs, developers, system administrators, CISOs, DBAs, network engineers, and MSPs among its audiences. | The FAQ says PCP is particularly suited to centralized monitoring of distributed processing, clusters, web server farms, and large systems, while some features also help with difficult performance problems on smaller systems. |
| Purpose | Netdata describes its product as an observability platform for real-time monitoring and troubleshooting across infrastructure. | PCP is a system performance analysis toolkit and framework for system-level performance monitoring and management. |
| Security | The site states that Netdata Cloud is SOC 2 Type 2 certified and lists SSO and role-based access control among Business features. | Recent releases support optional encrypted secure connections with user authentication and access restrictions based on hosts, users, or groups. |
| Support | The site lists documentation and community support, with premium support available. | The project directs users to GitHub issue trackers, mailing lists, Slack, and the #pcp Libera Chat IRC channel for community help. |

In their own words
Netdata
Netdata is an observability platform for real-time infrastructure monitoring and troubleshooting. Its agent gathers metrics and logs and provides per-second monitoring, machine-learning anomaly detection, dashboards, and alerts. Netdata lists more than 800 collectors and notification channels, including Slack, PagerDuty, Microsoft Teams, email, and webhooks. The agent can ingest Prometheus, OpenMetrics, StatsD, and OpenTelemetry data and export to Prometheus Remote Write, InfluxDB, Graphite, OpenTSDB, and TimescaleDB. Organizations can use the managed cloud platform or deploy on premises, including in air-gapped environments. Netdata says metrics remain on the user's infrastructure while only metadata reaches the cloud. Native Android and iOS apps provide alerts and notifications. The Community plan is free, with up to five active connected nodes and one active custom dashboard per room. Signing up for Netdata Cloud includes a 14-day Business trial for any number of nodes with no limits. Business costs $4.50 per month billed annually, with a stated total of $540.00/year.
Performance Co-Pilot
Performance Co-Pilot (PCP) is a free, open-source, self-hosted toolkit and framework for system performance monitoring and management. It gathers metrics from systems, combines data from multiple hosts and operating systems, and supports both real-time and historical analysis. Users can compare hosts and time periods to find trends or unusual patterns. Agents collect information about CPU, disks, memory, networking, filesystems, databases, web servers, mail systems, and cluster infrastructure. Its client-server architecture allows several clients to monitor one host or one client to monitor many hosts. APIs, libraries, and a plugin framework let applications and other sources provide or use performance data. PCP offers integrations including a Grafana plugin, Ansible roles, Java instrumentation, and a PDF graph converter. Optional encrypted connections, authentication, and access restrictions are available. Linux distribution packages and a macOS installer are listed; Windows and Solaris require source builds.
