Overview

Teams can draw, merge, and split territories using ZIP codes, counties, states, or custom boundaries. That flexibility suits coverage areas that do not fit neatly into standard administrative borders. CSV account lists can be assigned by location, and built-in geocoding indicates whether an address resolves to rooftop or ZIP-centroid accuracy, useful when judging how precisely records can be placed.

Scenario Comparison puts territory models and metrics side by side before a live plan changes. The AI optimizer previews proposed changes and can target balanced distribution, compact geography, or minimal disruption. Together, these features support deliberate planning rather than map editing alone, although optimizer depth depends on the plan.

Key features

Territory design and optimization: The map-based builder works across ZIP codes, counties, states, and custom boundaries. Free and Starter get a single-metric optimizer; Professional adds multi-metric optimization and drive-time balancing, a more suitable combination when teams must account for several constraints.
Data and CRM: CSV imports assign accounts by location, while Professional adds CRM integrations. Salesforce, HubSpot, Snowflake, and Workday appear in the connected-data section. The distinction matters: CSV is sufficient for a bounded or periodic planning exercise, while CRM integrations are more relevant to teams maintaining ongoing workflows.
Planning assistant and filters: The AI assistant answers plain-English questions, analyzes performance, recommends improvements, and exports data or reports. Smart Filtering turns natural-language criteria into reusable filters by attribute, location, or value, reducing the friction of repeating common segmentations.
Governance: Enterprise adds manager review, comments, approval history, and rollback, alongside SSO and custom integrations and API. These controls are aimed at organizations that need reviewable changes and centralized access rather than a small team working informally.

Pricing

TerraMap offers a free plan, paid subscriptions, and a free 14-day trial with no credit card required. The free tier has one territory model, five territories, 500 data points, one user, a single-metric optimizer, and CSV import. It is a useful way for one person to assess a small planning task, but its caps rule it out for a substantial team or dataset.

Starter: 49.00 USD per month, or $470/year (save $118). It allows three territory models, 15 territories, 10,000 data points, and two users, with a single-metric optimizer, CSV import and export, PDF territory reports, and email support. This is the modest paid step up for small teams that need more room than Free, but it still lacks multi-metric optimization and CRM integrations.

Professional: 149.00 USD per month, or $1,430/year (save $358). It includes unlimited models and territories, 100,000 data points, up to 10 users, multi-metric optimization, drive-time balancing, CSV and CRM integrations, PDF and Excel reports, shareable territory links, and priority support. For teams making recurring plans across several constraints, this is the clearest fit; its data and user ceilings remain relevant as deployments grow.

Enterprise: custom pricing. It includes everything in Professional, unlimited data points and users, approval workflows, SSO using SAML or OIDC, custom integrations and API, a dedicated success manager, and an SLA guarantee. It is the appropriate tier for larger organizations that need governance, scale, and a defined support commitment, but its cost must be evaluated through custom pricing.

Platforms

TerraMap runs on the web. That keeps the listed platform choice straightforward, but it is not the option for teams requiring a native desktop or mobile application.

Who it's for

TerraMap is strongest for sales and field service teams that need to edit territory boundaries, balance workload or quota plans, and compare scenarios before committing changes. Starter can cover small teams with limited data; Professional is more compelling when CRM integration, drive-time balancing, or multiple optimization measures matter. Organizations requiring approval trails, SSO, unlimited capacity, or SLA-backed support should consider Enterprise. It is a poor fit for teams that need generous multi-user planning at no cost.

Pros and cons

Pro: Editing across standard and custom boundaries gives teams flexibility to match territories to real coverage needs.
Pro: Previewed optimization and side-by-side scenario comparison let planners assess changes before altering a live model.
Pro: Professional combines multi-metric and drive-time balancing with CRM integrations, reports, and shareable links for a more complete recurring workflow.
Con: Free is capped at one user, five territories, and 500 data points, making it a test-size tier rather than a team deployment.
Con: Starter remains single-metric and limited to two users, so teams needing several constraints or CRM integrations must pay for Professional.
Con: Enterprise pricing is custom, which leaves larger teams without a fixed subscription figure for comparison.

Alternatives

Consider Sales Territory Management Software or Sales Mapping Software for broader category comparisons. Galigeo Sales Territory Mapping is a paid alternative with a free trial and support across web, mobile, API, Windows, and self-hosted environments. Choose Maptive if its 45 Day Pass suits a one-time mapping need: it is listed at 25045.00 USD per once and includes one user, unlimited maps, and 100,000 locations per data set. EasyTerritory may suit teams already working with Power BI, with its Standard Edition offering up to 20 Power BI Territory Visual users and 60,000 Azure Maps transactions per year for 2400.00 USD per year.

eSpatial is another paid option with a trial; its Mapping Pro plan is 499.00 USD per year per user, with a three-user minimum and 100,000 monthly geocodes. MapBusinessOnline is worth comparing for a desktop-oriented workflow, as its listed platforms are macOS and Windows. AlignMix is a Windows alternative with a one-time Expert Configuration service priced at 500.00 USD. Optymyze is another paid option spanning web, mobile, and API platforms. Territory Fox is a web-based paid alternative with a free trial.

Verdict

Choose TerraMap if your team needs map-based territory editing, previewable optimization, and scenario comparison in a web workflow. Professional is the strongest fit for teams that need multi-metric planning and CRM connections; Free is only convincing for a small individual evaluation. Look elsewhere if you need a native app, more substantial free capacity, or a published Enterprise price before engaging.
