Overview

Pika combines generation and editing across video, images, audio, speech, sound effects, music and soundtracks. That range can suit creators moving between formats, while a 30-second maximum in Video Studio makes it a poor fit for longer-form video production.

Key features

Text-to-video, image-to-video and AI avatars support different starting points for video creation, with output up to 4K. Video Studio sits alongside color grading, video extension, image editing, Character Studio, Image Studio, product shots and soundtrack tools. This is a substantial creative toolkit; its usefulness for high-volume work depends on how far the monthly credits stretch.

Pika provides API access and includes models such as Seedance 2.5, Pika 2.5, GPT Image 2.5, Grok Imagine 1.5 and MiniMax H3. Top-up credits work only with Pika Create on pika.art, not through the API, MCP, iOS app or old.pika.art, so they will not cover every Pika workflow.

Pricing

The Free plan is free and has no monthly credits: use is limited to credit packs. It includes all models, two parallel video generations, two parallel image and audio generations, and no watermark. The cap makes it useful for limited exploration, but it excludes commercial licensing, priority queue and early access to new models.

Starter costs 10.00 USD per month, or 8.00 USD per month billed annually, and includes 900 credits per month, two parallel video generations and eight parallel image and audio generations. It is the entry paid tier for modest workloads, but the video concurrency remains at the free-plan level. Creator costs 35.00 USD per month, or 28.00 USD per month billed annually, for 3,150 credits, eight parallel video generations and 32 parallel image and audio generations. It suits creators who need both a larger allowance and more concurrent work.

Fancy is custom pricing, starting at 8,550 credits per month with unlimited parallel generations; its annual option is 76.00 USD per month billed annually for 8,550 credits or more. Enterprise offers custom credits for studios and teams, all models, unlimited parallel generations, a commercial license and dedicated support, with custom pricing. Yearly billing saves 20% compared with monthly pricing.

Monthly plan credits do not roll over, while purchased top-up credits expire after 365 days. Plans can be canceled anytime and remain active through the billing period, but payments are non-refundable. Those terms favor users who can estimate their usage and use credits within the month.

Platforms

Pika runs on web and iOS and offers API access, with cloud and mobile deployment. Support channels include email, community and documentation. The top-up restriction means API and iOS users should not assume purchased Pika Create credits will apply to their work.

Who it's for

Pika is aimed at ad creatives, editors, marketers and filmmakers seeking a shared toolkit for short video, image and audio work. Solo creators can start with the limited free tier or choose a paid credit allowance; studios and teams that need custom credits and dedicated support can consider Enterprise. It is less suitable for anyone needing longer clips or dependable free monthly volume.

Pros and cons

Pros: Video, image and audio generation and editing tools are gathered in one platform, with text-to-video, image-to-video, avatars and output up to 4K.
Pros: Paid plans scale from 900 to 3,150 monthly credits, while higher tiers offer unlimited parallel generations.
Cons: Free has no monthly credits and only two parallel video generations, and it excludes commercial licensing.
Cons: Clips top out at 30 seconds, which rules out longer video output in Video Studio.
Cons: Monthly credits expire at the billing boundary, top-ups expire after 365 days, and payments are non-refundable.

Alternatives

HeyGen is worth considering if Android access matters or a free allowance of up to three videos per month, each up to one minute, better matches the job. For a free option with Linux, macOS, Windows and self-hosted availability, consider LivePortrait. Hedra may suit users who want a freemium API and web option with paid monthly credit plans, including a Basic plan at 20.00 USD per month.

Vidu is an alternative for those seeking text-to-video, image-to-video and reference-based generation. Animate Photo AI offers a free web plan with 50 credits. AnimateDiff is a free, self-hosted option released for academic use. AnimatePhoto has free access and a free trial alongside paid plans. Animate Old Photos is an option for people who prefer a free trial and one-time credit packs.

Verdict

Choose Pika if you want a broad set of generative media and editing tools, API access and high-resolution short clips in one platform. Its main advantage is that range; its main drawbacks are the short clip ceiling and credit rules that make free or unpredictable high-volume use difficult.
