| API and SDKs | The public documentation describes iOS and Android applications and does not identify a public API, SDK or developer integration surface. | The public product pages describe no public API, SDK or developer integration surface. |
| Backup | Android backups are encrypted exported files with a separate phrase; iOS backups use encrypted iCloud data. | Encrypted backup is opt-in, requires Pro, and stores ciphertext in the user’s iCloud or Google Drive; restoring does not require Pro. |
| Company headquarters | The developer address is Kodaňská 1441/46, 101 00 Praha, Czechia. | The maker identifies Hyderabad, Telangana, India as its base and registered address location. |
| Encryption | The apps use AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption for vault content and metadata. | AES-256-GCM seals imported files, thumbnails, metadata, vault manifests and key-wrapping headers before storage. |
| Google Play data safety | Google Play reports no data shared with third parties and no data collected, based on the developer declaration. | Google Play displays the developer declaration that no data is collected and no data is shared with third parties. |
| Headquarters | Prague, Czechia | Hyderabad, Telangana, India |
| Key derivation | Patterns are processed with memory-hard Argon2id key derivation. | Argon2id with RFC 9106 parameters derives a 256-bit key from the pattern, and HKDF-SHA256 creates per-item subkeys. |
| Licence | The App Store listing describes NullVault as using open-source libsodium but does not state that the NullVault application itself is open source. | The terms grant a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence and state that the source code and documentation are company property. |
| Product | NullVault stores private photos, videos, files, and notes in separate encrypted vaults, each opened with its own pattern. | Weave Vault is an encrypted vault for private photos, videos, and files. |
| Rating on Apple App Store | No rating overview; Apple says the app has not received enough ratings or reviews to display one. | Not enough ratings or reviews to display an overview |
| Recovery | Android supports device recovery phrases and portable encrypted backups, while iOS uses a 24-word recovery phrase with encrypted iCloud restore. | A vault’s 12-word recovery phrase is shown once at creation; if both the pattern and phrase are lost, the vault cannot be recovered. |
| Secure sharing | iOS Pro provides controlled read-only sharing with a separate sharing phrase and revocation controls. | Sharing creates a point-in-time encrypted vault copy opened with a one-time phrase and an expiry of up to 30 days. |
| Self-hosting | The product is documented as mobile apps using local storage and optional Apple or Android platform services; self-hosting is not described. | The service is distributed as iOS, iPadOS and Android applications; no self-hosted deployment is described. |
| Support | Support is provided by email at [email protected] and staff state they cannot bypass encryption or recover forgotten phrases. | Support is provided by email, and the maker says it cannot look up account or device data because it holds none. |

In their own words
NullVault
NullVault stores photos, videos, files, and notes in separate encrypted vaults, each opened with its own pattern. Entering a pattern opens the matching vault without showing a master list or the number of vaults. Within a vault, users can organize content into collections, search, and sort; they can capture or import items and deliberately export selected ones. Exported copies are outside NullVault’s protection.
Local vaults work offline without a NullVault account or server. The maker describes Android encryption using AES-256-GCM, Argon2id, and Android Keystore material; its iOS description lists AES-256-GCM, Argon2id, Apple CryptoKit, and libsodium. iOS supports encrypted iCloud backup and controlled read-only sharing through CloudKit, while Android supports portable encrypted backups. The free iOS plan allows up to five vaults and 20 items total, with one collection per vault. Compatibility is listed for iPhone running iOS 26 or later and Android phones running Android 10 or later. The maker warns that a compromised device may expose patterns, keys, screens, or plaintext, and that hidden vaults do not make encrypted data impossible to detect.
Weave Vault
Weave Vault is a mobile encrypted vault for private photos, videos, PDFs, and documents, available on Android and iOS. A pattern drawn on a 5×5 grid derives the key; an unrecognized pattern opens a fresh, empty vault rather than showing an error. The app supports files up to 16 GB and includes sealed folders, duress mode, and a camera that captures directly into the vault. Its security page says AES-256-GCM seals files, thumbnails, metadata, vault manifests, and key-wrapping headers. A 12-word recovery phrase appears once when a vault is created. If both the pattern and phrase are lost, the vault cannot be recovered. Optional encrypted backup requires Pro and stores ciphertext in the user's iCloud or Google Drive; restoring does not require Pro. Sharing sends a point-in-time copy that expires within at most 30 days and can be revoked earlier. The free plan allows up to three vaults and 50 files per vault. Annual, monthly, and lifetime Pro prices are shown in the app at purchase time; the annual plan includes a seven-day free trial for new subscribers.
