Open eLearning
Open eLearning is free, open-source desktop software for creating courses and educational games. Teachers and pedagogical designers can build multimedia lessons from video, images, text, and activities without coding. The standalone application installs on Linux, macOS, and Windows and works offline. Its authoring tools support interactive content: actions can combine states and layers, while object scripts control behavior and interactions with other objects and events. Courses are SCORM compliant, suitable for playback on mobile devices, and compatible with learning management systems including Moodle, Chamilo, and Claroline Connect. Listed plugins include H5P and Learningcoins, with export plugins for Storyline, Ludiscape, and Captivate. The Free software plan costs nothing under GNU GPL v3.0 or later. Premium Member costs $39.99 a year and adds templates, plugins, assets, webinars, and tutorials. Course creation and the interface support English, Spanish, and 70+ other languages. Reports track completions, scores, time spent, engagement, and learner activity, and can be downloaded. The platform supports assessments, certificates, SSO, API, SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, and xAPI/TinCan.
