In their own words
OpenLP
OpenLP is worship presentation software for churches preparing and projecting material during services. Searchable song and Bible verse databases let users put content on screen immediately or arrange it in a prepared service order. The program can run PowerPoint and OpenOffice presentations, videos, and audio files. A built-in web app lets devices on the network control slides and search content; the stage view is available through a browser on the local network. Free Android and iOS remote apps are also available. OpenLP integrates with VLC for video display and audio playback, and supports presentation control through PowerPoint, PowerPoint Viewer, and LibreOffice Impress on specified platforms. Plugins can import service plans from the Planning Center Online v2 API and control OBS Studio scenes and sources. Song imports include sources such as CCLI SongSelect, EasyWorship, ProPresenter 4, and SongShow Plus. OpenLP is free to download and use, with a plan listed at free. It is licensed under the GNU General Public License, which permits use, distribution, and modification. The listed platforms are Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, web, and Windows. The Flatpak is described as experimental and unsupported by the team.
VerseCAST
VerseCAST uses a phone to send Bible passages, lyrics, media, and other content wirelessly to a Smart TV or projector. It runs on Android, iOS, and web browsers, and is aimed by its maker at small churches, Bible study groups, and youth ministries. Users can share verses from YouVersion; the maker says those Bibles are available without additional charge. Song tools include a searchable lyrics library,.chordpro imports, and song-set imports from OnSong or SongbookPRO. It connects to Google Cast displays or displays that open a web page, with multiple output URLs available. Stream options include lower-third subtitles for OBS and vMix, plus a chroma version for hardware streamers such as ATEM. The maker says its templates adjust text size and render at native display resolution up to 4K. VerseCAST does not work offline: Chromecast or browser display setups require WiFi with internet access. Bible presentation is free, though demo access limits slide count and functionality. The Monthly plan is $3.49 a month, the Yearly plan is $24.99 a year, and the Perpetual plan is $49.99 as a one-time purchase.
