In their own words
Oracle WebCenter Content
Oracle WebCenter Content is an enterprise document management and imaging platform for handling documents in transactional business processes. Content Server lets organizations capture, secure, share, and distribute digital and paper documents and reports. Imaging supports processes such as high-volume invoice processing for Oracle Financial Management applications. Records Management provides controls for classification, retention, and destruction under retention and disposition policies. Capture supports production scanning, remote image capture, flexible indexing, and learning-based document recognition and data extraction. Integration options include persistent URLs, Java API, Microsoft COM, ActiveX, RIDC, SOAP, and WSDL-based web services. Security configuration includes SSL, security groups, roles, permissions, access control lists, and web services security. The product can be self-hosted or deployed on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. OCI Marketplace listings offer paid Universal Credit pricing or BYOL, with cloud resources billed by OCPU per hour; no numeric rate is listed. Oracle documentation lists WebCenter Content 14c version 14.1.2.0.0. In that version, Lotus Notes desktop integration and SharePoint Connector are deprecated, and the Add Server to Desktop Integration option is unavailable in the interface.
Progress Application Server for OpenEdge
Progress Application Server for OpenEdge is a self-hosted web server that extends Apache Tomcat for OpenEdge and ABL applications. Routing and adapter functions provide access to business logic from ABL, browser-based, and mobile clients. It supports ABL and WebSpeed code, web handlers, and REST and SOAP services, with REST, WEB, SOAP, and APSV transports for ABL services. The server includes Spring Security and supports HTTPS, authentication, and authorization. The OpenEdge Authentication Gateway connects to LDAP and Active Directory, but is not included with the Lite license. Progress offers development, production, and Lite versions: the development server comes with a Developer Studio license, production requires an additional license, and Lite is intended for up to five concurrent connections. Administrators can use OpenEdge Management, command-line utilities, or APIs to deploy and manage applications. PAS is available in a Docker container. Pricing is available on request; the product is paid and a free plan is also listed.
