Overview

sbomify brings SBOM production and security-artifact sharing into one platform, making it a natural fit for software vendors assembling compliance evidence and buyers checking software assets. Its strongest case is the breadth of its generation and customer-facing sharing workflows; teams that need license analysis will need another tool.

Key features

Generation supports both CycloneDX and SPDX, across 17 ecosystems, container images, directory scans, and Yocto/OpenEmbedded builds. That range suits teams producing inventories from varied software inputs. GitHub users can automate with the sbomify Action; Docker-based workflows are documented for GitLab, Bitbucket, and other CI/CD systems.

For vulnerability analysis, sbomify integrates with Google OSV and OWASP Dependency-Track. It supports SBOM exchange, but not license analysis, so it is less suitable as a single destination for teams that also need license-focused review.

Trust Centers can share SBOMs, VEX and CBOM artifacts, security certifications, penetration test reports, and compliance attestations. Custom domains and public or private access make the hub adaptable to customer-facing evidence sharing. Trust Center content is also consumable programmatically through the Transparency Exchange API (TEA).

The open-source platform can be self-hosted or used as a hosted service. That flexibility is useful for teams with deployment preferences, though the Community plan’s public-only documents may rule it out for sensitive customer materials.

Pricing

Community is free and includes one product, five components, unlimited SBOMs and compliance documents, public documents only, and one user. It is a credible starting point for an individual or small team with a single product and no need to restrict document access. The caps on products, components, and seats make it a poor fit for a growing portfolio or a collaborative workflow.

Business costs 159.00 USD per month, billed annually, and has a 14-day free trial. It raises the allowance to five products and 200 components, keeps unlimited SBOMs and compliance documents, and adds private documents and priority email support. This is the practical step up for teams that need controlled sharing, but the annual billing term and fixed portfolio limits matter when evaluating the price.

Enterprise has custom pricing and offers unlimited products and components, SSO/SCIM, a dedicated account manager, and SLA-backed support. Its listed enterprise controls also include role-based access controls, audits, and organization-wide roles. It is the tier to consider for larger organizations that need those access and support provisions.

Platforms

sbomify supports API, Linux, macOS, self-hosted, web, and Windows. The combination of hosted and self-hosted deployment is a useful choice for teams that want to fit the platform to their operating environment.

Who it's for

Software vendors managing compliance and sharing security evidence with customers are the clearest match, especially when they need both artifact generation and a branded Trust Center. Software buyers verifying asset security may also benefit from the analysis and artifact-sharing capabilities. Teams with many products, components, or users should weigh the plan boundaries carefully; those needing license analysis should look beyond sbomify.

Pros and cons

Broad generation coverage: two SBOM formats, 17 ecosystems, and support for containers, directory scans, and Yocto/OpenEmbedded accommodate varied inputs.
Customer-facing artifact hub: custom domains and public or private access cover a wider set of compliance artifacts than SBOMs alone.
Flexible deployment: hosted and self-hosted options suit different operating preferences.
Free tier is tightly bounded: one product, five components, one user, and public-only documents limit its use for team collaboration or private sharing.
No license analysis: teams requiring license review alongside vulnerability analysis need a separate solution.

Alternatives

For a wider comparison, see SBOM Management Software. Sonatype Nexus Repository is worth considering when its free Community Edition’s full ecosystem support, CI/CD integration, and external PostgreSQL option better match repository needs. Keysight Eggplant Test is an enterprise software alternative with quote-based pricing. Interlynk may suit readers seeking a free community tier without per-seat fees or per-SBOM metering. Exodos Labs offers a free Community plan with unlimited inventories and one user, plus a Team plan. FOSSA is another free option, with its Free plan capped at five projects, ten contributing developers, one release group, and five dependency levels for scans. ReARM may fit teams seeking a self-hosted, free-forever community edition for core SBOM/XBOM storage and retrieval. Codenotary Trustcenter is a paid alternative starting at 3600.00 USD per month. OTNOS SBOM 360 offers a free plan for up to 50 monitored assets and one user, with limits on CSV imports and saved files.

Verdict

Choose sbomify if your priority is a combined workflow for generating SBOMs and sharing a broad set of security and compliance artifacts with customers. The Community plan is useful for a small, public-only setup, while private documents require Business at 159.00 USD per month billed annually. Look elsewhere if license analysis is essential or your team cannot work within the plan’s product, component, and seat limits.
