It runs in a browser and includes SVG vector editing, custom font management, Flex Layout, CSS Grid Layout and interactive prototyping. Design systems can use components, native design tokens and shared libraries; developers can inspect code using standards such as CSS, HTML, SVG and JSON, as well as Penpot's open file format. The service is available in the cloud or can be self-hosted on private cloud, on-premises or in air-gapped environments, with Docker and Kubernetes listed as deployment options. Security information includes SAML SSO, role-based access control, AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS 1.2+ in transit and GDPR compliance with a DPA. Self-hosted deployments are described as SOC2/HIPAA capable, and Penpot can be deployed in FedRAMP environments. Professional is free; Unlimited costs $7 editor/month, Enterprise $25 member/month, and Private Server $50k year. There is no desktop app.

Zeplin Flows

Zeplin Flows helps teams map user journeys and make design intent clearer across screens. Diagrams use labels, shapes, and connectors that reposition when screens are added or removed. Teams can group screens and flows into Flow Groups and Boards, then share them through quick links. Shapes can represent actions, decisions, and branches, helping product, QA, and Support teams identify gaps and add use cases. Flows are included across plans, while Flow Boards are available on Advanced and Enterprise. The Free plan is free and includes one project, 100 screens, unlimited members, and no Flow Boards. Advanced costs $12 a month, billed annually. Zeplin offers Mac and Windows desktop apps and a web app that works on Windows, macOS, and Linux; the web app does not support uploading designs. Listed integrations include Figma, Sketch, Jira, Storybook, VS Code, Azure DevOps, Slack, Microsoft Teams, an API, and webhooks. Developer inspect view, design tokens, asset handoff, code snippets, and version history are listed.
