In their own words
Pentera Platform
Pentera Platform validates security controls by emulating attacks, helping security teams identify proven exposure and support remediation. Its Core, Surface, and Cloud offerings cover internal networks, external attack surfaces, and cloud environments; listed coverage also includes web applications, endpoints, servers, services, and network devices. Simulations are agentless, can run continuously, and map to MITRE ATT&CK. Pentera Resolve prioritizes validated attack paths and supports remediation and retesting to check for reduced exposure. Pentera Peer provides an AI-native interface for analyzing adversarial testing, including natural-language queries about findings and validated paths. For production use, customer-controlled safeguards include throttling, impact limits, emergency stops, optional read-only modes, and audit logs. Listed integrations include AWS, Azure, GCP, Okta, Jira, ServiceNow, Slack, GitHub, CrowdStrike, and Microsoft Defender. Pentera says AI data is hashed and encrypted, not used for model training, and not retained by Pentera. The platform is paid, with pricing on request. Pentera was founded in 2015.
Stratus Red Team
Stratus Red Team is a free, open-source Go binary for running specific offensive attack techniques against a live cloud environment and checking detections. Its techniques map to MITRE ATT&CK, with coverage for AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, and Entra ID. For each technique, it can prepare prerequisites, detonate the activity, reverse side effects, and remove prerequisites. Terraform creates and removes required infrastructure, and Stratus downloads its own Terraform binary. Installation options include Go, Homebrew, pre-built Linux, Windows, and macOS binaries, and Docker. The tool can also operate as a Go library for automation and custom techniques. It supports Linux, macOS, Windows, API use, and self-hosting. Documentation recommends an administrator role in a sandbox account or test cluster, not production infrastructure. Kubernetes clusters must already exist, AWS customer-provided detonation infrastructure is unsupported, and Azure resources are fixed to West US.
