Peppox

Peppox is a cloud service for Peppol e-invoicing, with an API and dashboard for companies, developers and integrators. Its PDF2Peppol workflow extracts invoice information, turns it into a structured Peppol document and requests confirmation before sending. The API can build invoice data, add lines, generate UBL and follow delivery; Peppox also lists UBL and Peppol BIS validation, real-time tracking and webhooks for status updates. Customers can use its Managed Access Point or connect an existing one, including Ibanity, Wolters Kluwer Connect and CodaBox. Developer resources include a sandbox, PHP, Python and Node.js SDKs, and separate integration and production environments. The features page lists credential and certificate management, encrypted certificate storage, queued transmission, automatic retry and fallback, and 24/7 monitoring and alerting. The Company plan is €29/month for 1,000 sent and received invoices, then €0.89 per additional invoice. Integrator plans cost €59/month with your own Access Point or €89/month with Managed Access Point. Company registration and Managed Access Point service are listed in six European countries.

phase4

phase4 is a free, open-source Java library for sending and receiving AS4 messages. It is designed for manual integration into an existing system, not as a standalone project. Built-in protocol support includes Peppol and CEF eDelivery; documented additional profiles include BDEW, DBNAlliance, eDelivery2, EESPA, ENTSOG, EUCTP, and HR eDelivery. The library supports UBL and API access, and is intended for on-premise deployment. It requires Java 17 or later, with Java 21 or later recommended for performance. Configuration can come from application.properties, system properties, or environment variables; security setup can use JKS or PKCS12 keystores and truststores. AS4 multi-hop and AS4 split and join are not implemented. The project says automated unit and integration tests cover many configurations, while testing against a real remote system is different. Its testing guide says an official Peppol AP certificate is needed to test sending to or receiving from an existing Peppol provider. phase4 uses the Apache 2.0 license.
