In their own words

PerfectLaw DMS

PerfectLaw DMS organizes documents within law-firm case matters so eligible users can find, share, distribute, and manage them. It provides versioning, document comparisons and redlining, check-in and check-out, and links from one document to multiple matters. The system records creation and access history, with permissions that can update Microsoft Windows Active Directory. Users can drag Outlook emails onto matters, create or reply to messages from a matter, and add time slips automatically while profiling or saving documents. Integrations include Microsoft Office, Outlook, the All-in-One suite, and Adobe Acrobat. Browser-based webDMS supports document creation, search, retrieval, preview, and offline access for mobile and cloud use. PerfectLaw offers on-premises and cloud options; listed requirements include Windows 10/11 workstations, Windows Server 2016 or later, SQL Server 2017 or later, IIS, and an SSL certificate. The maker is based in Miami and says it was incorporated in 1979.

PONS Operations

PONS Operations organizes a legal case, transaction, or project as a matter containing documents, tasks, people, and results. Opening a matter can surface relevant laws, suggest tasks, and produce a starting draft based on its context. The system supports solo practitioners, law firms, in-house teams, and multi-entity organizations. Teams can co-edit documents, resolve inline comments, and give outside collaborators access to specific matters. Permissions can be set at individual, team, department, organization, folder, and file levels, including time-limited access for outside counsel. Tasks can include deadlines, files, and comments; the calendar syncs with Outlook, Google Calendar, or an iCal feed. Documents can be imported from Google Drive and OneDrive. Analytics provide organization, team, and per-user views of matters, time, billing, and AI usage. PONS says documents are encrypted at rest, in transit, and at field level, with EU hosting by default or local hosting on request. The product is web-based, offers a free trial, and lists paid pricing as on request.
