Overview

Vantage scores and sorts shoot photos into keep, review, and cut selections, then adds basic keeper adjustments, search, and client galleries. It accepts camera RAW, JPEG, and TIFF files without conversion, and supports offline culling. That combination can keep a shoot moving from first selection toward delivery without requiring every step to happen in a separate app.

The desktop product is explicitly early access, with rough edges. Vantage also says it performs better on cars and property than weddings. Photographers working in other genres may still find the workflow relevant, but those caveats matter most if reliable wedding culling is central to the job.

Key features

Culling and adjustments

Vantage's keep, review, and cut groups give photographers a structured first pass, while batch actions help handle a set consistently. Exposure, colour, and straightening adjustments can be applied across keepers or made photo by photo. This is useful for bringing a selection into shape, though the app is not presented as a replacement for a full editing workflow.

Search and delivery

Natural-language search can locate images by subject, angle, and lighting across a shoot, which offers a different way to revisit a large set than browsing alone. Client galleries add password protection, expiry dates, and full-size or web-size downloads, giving photographers control over access and file size when sharing selections.

Workflow and privacy

The desktop app exports Lightroom XMP sidecars and catalog data, and Capture One is named among supported workflow tools. Culling runs locally by default and can work offline. For cloud processing, the privacy policy says uploaded originals are deleted when results are ready and are not used to train AI models. On iPhone, everyday scanning runs on-device; optional photographer Pro modes send reduced-size copies to a scoring server and delete them after scoring.

Pricing

Vantage has a free iPhone plan and paid iPhone and desktop plans. The desktop plan, at £15.99/mo, includes unlimited shoots and 2.5 GB of cloud storage. It is the relevant option for photographers who want the desktop culling workflow; the included storage is a defined allowance to weigh alongside the unlimited shoot count.

Vantage iPhone Free costs 0.00 GBP per free and covers duplicate cleanup from the last 30 days, monthly best photos, and space-saving tools. Its time-bounded cleanup scope makes it a fit for routine phone-library maintenance, not a substitute for desktop shoot culling.

Vantage Pro for iPhone costs 2.99 GBP per month, billed monthly, and offers three months, a year, or whole-library access, plus one week free to try. It suits iPhone users who need broader scanning access than the free plan provides.

Platforms

Vantage is available on iOS, macOS, and Windows. The desktop workflow spans both major desktop operating systems, while iPhone features have their own free and Pro plans. RAW preview, AI-assisted culling, batch actions, Lightroom integration, and hybrid culling are supported.

Who it's for

Vantage is aimed at photographers handling car, property, wedding, event, portrait, and other shoots. Its culling, search, and gallery delivery will particularly suit those who want selection and client sharing connected. Car and property photographers have the clearest genre fit; wedding photographers should be cautious given the product's stated performance difference.

Pros and cons

Pros

RAW, JPEG, and TIFF support with offline culling: photographers can work with common camera files without a conversion step and can cull without a connection.
Selection through delivery in one workflow: keep/review/cut grouping, keeper adjustments, search, and protected client galleries cover several practical stages of a shoot.
Local-first desktop culling: default local processing and stated deletion of cloud originals after results are ready provide clear privacy boundaries.

Cons

Early-access rough edges: photographers who need a mature, dependable desktop workflow may prefer to wait or choose another tool.
Uneven stated genre performance: the advantage for cars and property does not carry over as confidently to wedding work.
Cloud storage is capped at 2.5 GB on desktop: unlimited shoots do not mean unlimited included storage.

Alternatives

Photo Culling Software is a useful place to compare more tools in the category. Consider Memory Ease if a wedding-focused plan with unlimited weddings, photos, and projects is a better fit; its Solo plan is $7.50 USD per month for the first year when billed yearly, then $180/yr, with one seat and two devices.

OptiCull is a macOS freemium alternative. Photo Curator is a free and open-source option for Linux, macOS, web, and Windows. FilterPixel offers macOS and Windows support, including a one-time $7.99 USD extra-deep cull for one shoot of up to 5,500 photos, or a $14.99 USD per month Standard plan billed annually.

Selekt is a macOS and Windows freemium alternative whose free plan includes unlimited imports, culling, and export, with on-device scoring and cloud AI for 100 photos per month. Aftershoot is a paid macOS and Windows option with unlimited AI culling on Select at $10.00 USD per month billed annually, or $15/month with monthly billing. Narrative Select is another macOS and Windows option; its Lite plan is $10.00 USD per month billed annually and includes one user, unlimited images and projects, and exports to Lightroom, Photoshop, and Capture One.

Photo Mechanic is a paid macOS and Windows alternative with a trial; its $14.99 USD per month plan covers one user on up to two computers, with updates and support while subscribed.

Verdict

Choose Vantage if you want desktop culling, useful keeper adjustments, search, and client galleries connected, especially for car or property shoots. Its local-first and offline culling are practical strengths. Look elsewhere if you need a mature desktop product now or depend on wedding performance: early access and Vantage's own genre caveat are the clearest reasons to hesitate.
