In their own words

PhotoKit Background Remover

PhotoKit Background Remover removes image backgrounds in an online editor. Clicking an image can make its background transparent, and the cutout and magic eraser tools provide other ways to clear background pixels, including areas of continuous color. Shape clipping removes pixels outside a selected shape, and images can be saved as transparent PNG files. Replacement backgrounds are available, but batch processing is not. The editor also includes photo enhancement, portrait retouching, effects, collage creation, and crop, resize, rotate, and basic editing tools. PhotoKit offers a free online trial; its free plan is listed at free and has limited image downloads with ad support. The listed platforms are Android, API, extension, iOS, Linux, macOS, web, and Windows. The editor can be embedded in a website with an iframe, and integrations describe Google Drive and a Chrome extension. Commercial use is not included. The homepage says its server does not save user pictures and data; the privacy policy says personal data may be transferred to and stored in Hong Kong or another jurisdiction.

unbagrnd

unbagrnd removes photo backgrounds with on-device AI, and its desktop app processes images locally through ONNX Runtime. The maker says images, filenames, and metadata are not sent anywhere; the app makes a one-time model download and has no analytics, update checks, or telemetry. Users can choose among several models with different speed and accuracy tradeoffs; the default is described as 43 MB. Editing tools include brush erase and restore with undo and redo, edge shift and smoothing, background color and shadow styling, and alpha matte export. It is intended for single photos or folders, including cutout refinement and background styling. A Docker-based REST API can be self-hosted to process images inside the user’s container. Its documented defaults include a 20 MB image limit, dimensions up to 8192 pixels, batches of up to 10, and 60 requests per API key per minute. The API uses plain HTTP, so a reverse proxy is recommended for TLS when exposing it publicly. The software is free and MIT-licensed, with Android, Linux, macOS, Windows, API, and self-hosted platforms listed.
