Podcastfy
Podcastfy is a free, open-source Python package that turns multimodal source material into multilingual audio conversations with generative AI. It accepts websites, PDFs, images, YouTube videos, raw text, transcript files and user-provided topics; topic generation can use grounded real-time web search. Users can set the podcast format, style, voices, language and structure, then generate short episodes of 2–5 minutes or longform episodes of 30 minutes or more. Transcript generation supports more than 100 language-model options, including OpenAI, Anthropic and Google models. Listed speech engines include OpenAI, Google, ElevenLabs and Microsoft Edge. Local language models are supported for transcript generation, offering the project’s stated privacy and control benefits. Usage is available through a Python package, command-line interface and beta FastAPI service for URLs, with MP3 audio export. API-key needs depend on selected models; a documented local-model and Edge TTS setup requires none. Python 3.11 or higher and ffmpeg are required. The project uses the Apache 2.0 license.
Podycy
Podycy turns text and prompts into AI-generated podcasts, with tools for research, narration, artwork, and publishing. Its Research Agent gathers facts, cites sources, and structures scripts; users can select text-to-speech voices and create cover art. Listed formats include news, stories, educational content, and chat, and Podycy says podcasts can be translated into more than 50 languages. The product is presented for corporate communications and training, schools, and universities. Education examples include research, lecture supplements, campus updates, and career guidance audio. Universities can publish on school websites, share by email, or distribute through podcast platforms. Listed integrations include Canvas LMS, Blackboard, Moodle, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365. The university page describes TLS 1.3 encryption in transit and AES-256 at rest, says student personally identifiable information is not stored on its servers, and offers data processing agreements. FERPA alignment and COPPA guidelines are in progress; SOC 2 Type II and WCAG 2.1 AA are planned. Podycy is in beta, has a free plan and trial, and offers custom university pricing proposals. It is available on Android, iOS, and the web.
