Podcastfy
Podcastfy is a free, open-source Python package that turns multimodal source material into multilingual audio conversations with generative AI. It accepts websites, PDFs, images, YouTube videos, raw text, transcript files and user-provided topics; topic generation can use grounded real-time web search. Users can set the podcast format, style, voices, language and structure, then generate short episodes of 2–5 minutes or longform episodes of 30 minutes or more. Transcript generation supports more than 100 language-model options, including OpenAI, Anthropic and Google models. Listed speech engines include OpenAI, Google, ElevenLabs and Microsoft Edge. Local language models are supported for transcript generation, offering the project’s stated privacy and control benefits. Usage is available through a Python package, command-line interface and beta FastAPI service for URLs, with MP3 audio export. API-key needs depend on selected models; a documented local-model and Edge TTS setup requires none. Python 3.11 or higher and ffmpeg are required. The project uses the Apache 2.0 license.
Twocast
Twocast is an AI podcast generator that turns source material into two-person audio conversations. Users can supply a topic, URL, PDF, Word document, text file, or pasted plain text. Two distinct AI personalities create dialogue, and settings control episode length, style, tone, and host personalities, including casual, professional, and educational options. Twocast describes the output as broadcast-quality audio with natural pauses and conversational flow. Most results are ready in 2–5 minutes, depending on content length and complexity. Short articles may become 5–10 minute episodes, while comprehensive documents may produce 20–30+ minute podcasts. Finished audio can be downloaded as standard files and edited with audio software. The service currently specializes in English conversations, with more language support in development. Businesses use it for reports, training, and marketing; educators can turn lectures and articles into audio. The Free plan is free, billed one-time, with 10 credits, up to one audio, priority generation, and 30-day validity. Starter is $9, paid once, billed one-time, with 900 credits and up to 90 audios.
