In their own words

Polish

Polish is a desktop writing utility that transforms selected text inside other applications. Select text and press Ctrl+Space to apply Fix, Rewrite, Translate or TLDR without opening a chatbot or changing tabs. The maker says it works in apps supporting text selection, including Chrome, Safari, Mail, Messages, Notion, Slack, VS Code and Terminal. Translation works to and from more than 50 languages. The overall platform listing includes Linux, macOS and Windows; the listed plans name Mac and Windows. The Free plan costs nothing and allows 20 transformations monthly without a card or account. Unlimited costs $6 a month, billed monthly, while Unlimited annual costs $48 a year, billed annually. Paid plans add unlimited transformations, local mode, bring-your-own API keys and use on up to two devices.

Writefull

Writefull provides AI language feedback, writing tools, and data insights for research writing. Its language models are trained on academic texts and suggest improvements to grammar, word use, style, and phrasing. Other tools can paraphrase, change style, split or join sentences, summarize or explain text, and generate titles and abstracts. Writefull integrates with Overleaf, offering LaTeX-tailored feedback, TeXGPT, and table and equation generators. Its Microsoft Word add-in works with Windows, Mac, and Word Online. The service is available on the web, Windows, macOS, and as a browser extension. The Overleaf extension supports Chrome, Chromium, and Brave; Writefull Revise supports Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Chromium-based Edge. Revise returns edits through Track Changes and is limited to publishers and institutions. A free plan has limited quotas for language editing and rewriting. Writefull says it does not store users’ text, use text or interactions to train its AI, or sell data to third parties. Some features use third-party APIs, with user consent requested before text is sent.
