Reading Mountain
Reading Mountain is a structured-literacy program for early and struggling readers, including people with dyslexia, from children through adults. Based on the Orton-Gillingham approach, it uses multisensory lessons with reading and spelling tiles, words, sentences, writing, games, and decodable books. Learners read at least one decodable book per lesson, with AI support and comprehension questions. Speech detection flags sounds and words that may pose difficulty; AI also generates reading-pattern insights and book-reading accuracy scores. A parent and instructor portal provides progress reports and printable customized worksheets after lessons. Levels 1 to 3 are available now; Levels 4 and 5 are in development, and Levels 6 to 16 are planned by the end of 2026. There is no placement assessment yet, and the company recommends starting at Level 1, Lesson 1. The program works on Apple and Android phones and tablets and in a browser on computers. A separate free Basecamp app offers phonemic-awareness activities. The Individual plan is $29 a month, and Family is $49 a month; a free plan and free trial are listed.
